The World Cup list of probables for India is out, and it is very clear that selectors have relied on fresh faces and have completely quelled any hopes that people like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh might have had of getting a call-up once again. The IPL performances of domestic players count hugely in deciding whether they are going to be picked for the next big international tournament. One major reason that happens is because the IPL involves some high-pressure clashes and somebody who performs well there can definitely be tipped off to handle pressure well in the future.Presented here is a look on how each IPL franchise is represented in terms of number of players selected from them and how each player stands as far as limited overs cricket goes.
#8 Kings XI Punjab
They were the runners-up this time in the IPL and lost to KKR in the finals.
Akshar Patel can be called as the best find of the IPL season for India. He was one of the reasons KXIP did so well. With 17 wickets in 17 games, it was not a surprise that he wore national colours soon after, and made the shortlist for the World Cup too. He will work well with his seniors Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin, and will surely come in even if one of them are unfit. Saha comes in as a wicket-keeper who can bat.
Players selected: Wriddhiman Saha and Akshar Patel

Rohit Sharma, the only man to hit 2 double hundreds in ODI cricket, and Ambati Rayudu, who performed well in the IPL and also won a match for India recently against the Lankans make the side.
It was a long time coming for Rayudu who has performed very well in the domestic circuit with his heroics with the bat, and it was only the ICL and some bad luck that prevented him from making the national side and shining internationally for so long.

#6 Royal Challengers Bangalore
Kohli will have to play the role of an anchor as far as the Indian batting goes, and his hunger for runs combined with his impeccable technique will make life difficult for bowlers. It remains to be seen whether he can deliver in the same measure down under as he has been doing at other places, especially the subcontinent.
Varun Aaron, if he can show consistency with his line and length, could be picked for his sheer pace, and one can expect him to be India’s trump card this time. Dinda also makes the cut as a fast bowling option.
Players selected: Virat Kohli, Varun Aaron and Ashok Dinda
Performance in IPL 2014:
PLAYER | MATCHES | RUNS | WICKETS |
---|---|---|---|
Virat Kohli | 14 | 359 | 0 |

Rahane will open for India in all probability. Binny who recently got into the national outfit can contribute both with the bat and the ball. Sanju Samson comes in as a substitute keeper for Dhoni, and he is no slouch with the bat either.

#4 Delhi Daredevils
Shami has proved to be a regular pace option for the national side, and will surely trouble batsmen with his swing and subtleties in variation. He will mostly lead the attack along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Aaron/Umesh Yadav.
Vijay, Tiwary, and Jadhav have been selected looking at their past records in domestic cricket. Vijay has good prior experience playing for the national side and can score quick runs at the top of the innings which he did so often for another IPL team CSK in the past.
Players selected: Mohammad Shami, Murali Vijay, Manoj Tiwary and Kedar Jadhav

#3 Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR were the IPL champions of 2014.
Robin Uthappa, the Orange Cap holder this season with 660 runs in 16 games, finds a place in the list of probables, and could well keep wickets should Dhoni not be available.
Manish Pandey, who scored 401 runs gets a call-up too, although it is very unlikely that he will make it to the final 15. Umesh Yadav was brilliant with the ball and will be useful in conditions that support pace, with chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav making the cut for showcasing his talent during the CLT20.
Players selected: Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, Umesh Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav

#2 Chennai Super Kings
They reached the playoffs of the IPL and also won the Champions League T20 this season.
MS Dhoni will lead India once again in the tournament. Suresh Raina is in the form of his life, and he is one of the best ODI batsmen that India have right now. Mohit Sharma was a surprise package this time, and he went on to grab the Purple Cap with 23 wickets.
Jadeja and Ashwin also impressed with the ball as they consistently have, and one can expect big things from these players in Australia, all of whom are most likely to be picked for the playing 11 every time.
Players selected: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohit Sharma
