The team always needs a scapegoat after defeats, to present as sacrifice in front of the fans and the media. Rohit Sharma has been the usual answer nowadays. The amount of talent he has makes him the preferable target for the criticism.

The rest of the players, especially the bowlers, would be happy to have him in the team. But this hasn’t changed the way Rohit plays. He wants to remain unaltered and keep doing the saviour’s work as long as possible.

It needs special skills to become a scapegoat each time and still manage a place in the team. Some players like Ravindra Jadeja tried too much to compete with Rohit Sharma and hence got expelled from the team. The other players who have mastered the art are Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra and Ashok Dinda.
