#1 David Luiz - PSG vs Lens
Ex-Chelsea defender David Luiz hasn’t lost his free kick taking ability after making the move to Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian helped PSG to a 4-1 win by opening the scoring in the 43rd minute.
PSG won a free kick when Lens’ Lalaïna Nomenjanahary was shown a yellow card for a foul on Thiago Motta. Luiz line up the ball and took a shot on goal, placing the shot to the right of the wall.
Lens goalkeeper Rudy Riou didn’t help his team by initially moving the wrong way before realizing too late and letting Luiz score from very far out.
The win puts PSG on top of the table with Lyon having a game in hand.
#2 Memphis Depay - PSV Eindhoven vs Eagles
PSV Eindhoven extended their lead in the Eredivisie to 14 points over Ajax, who have a game in hand, with a 3-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles. But the goal of the game came from Manchester United target Memphis Depay.
The Dutch winger took the free kick from near the centre of the attacking half of the pitch and it curled outward to deceive the goalkeeper who initially started moving to his right before he realized it was going out.
In spite of the dive, he couldn’t get his hands to the ball and allowed Depay to score.
#3 Xabi Alonso - Bayern Munich vs Hannover
Xabi Alonso scored his third goal in the Bundesliga when he scored the opener against Hannover 96 with a well-placed shot. Although Thomas Muller’s brace ensured Bayern would win 1-3 and extend their lead to 11 points over second-placed Wolfsburg, it was Alonso’s goal after Hannover had taken the lead that stole the headlines.
David Alaba won a free kick in the 27th minute when he was fouled by Joao Pereira and Alonso stepped up to take the free kick. The Spaniard's free kick went over the wall and straight into the back of the net.
All Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler could do was watch it go in while his feet were rooted to the spot.
