Buckle up and get ready. We have it all here in this week’s preview of the Fantasy Premier League. All you need to do is read on.
#1 David Silva (Manchester City)
With Yaya Toure likely to be missing the game this weekend and Samir Nasri still nursing a long-term groin injury, Manuel Pellegrini will turn a keen eye on David Silva to provide the firepower and much of the creativity from midfield.
The diminutive Spaniard is yet to get off second gear so far this season but has been starting to the strides noticeably in his game against Hull. This weekend’s fixture should give him the perfect opportunity to exert himself even further on the proceedings with the bulk of the responsibility on his shoulders to drive the defending champions forward.
#2 Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)
Liverpool will be looking to recover from their early hiccup this season, however the delay in the return of Daniel Sturridge will mean that the Reds will have their eyes on a certain Raheem Sterling to pull them through
The England international looks like he has stepped even another notch after coming to the fore for Liverpool late last season. Not only does he offer trickery, his guile and work-rate also makes people around him better. The young teenager at times has looked like Liverpool’s single source of inspiration on the field the last few weeks. However, with more appreciation comes even more detailed analysis from opponents and this season has seen teams focussing specifically to stop the tricky winger.
However the Kopite’s recent wing against West Brom and a trip to lowly QPR shouldn’t hurt his fantasy stock. With Hull and Newcastle coming up after this, Sterling’s name warrants a gaze from your side.
#3 Leighton Baines/Seamus Coleman (Everton)
The run-in finally hits the smooth curve for Everton this game-week. After battling Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all in their first seven games, the Merseysiders can now look forward to Aston Villa, Burnley, Swansea, Sunderland and West Ham in their next five.Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines will of course hit your pockets hard, but they have ample reason to be so amply priced. If there was any time you would want to play the high stakes when it comes to defenders, this might be the best time to plug in one of Everton’s wing-back jewels.Sidenote: This run-in also should also encourage you to draft in Romelu Lukaku if the need be.
#4 Leonardo Ulloa (Leicester City)
Just like two and two makes four, Leandro Ulloa and a fragile Newcastle defence should add up to give you the points you crave for. Be it home or away, Newcastle United has been a shamble and one of the biggest part of their problem has been their poor defence.
Picking the forward playing against Newcastle has been a great thing to do for fantasy managers across the board so far. Eight forwards playing against Newcastle this season have scored an incredible 50 points in seven encounters so far against the Magpies. Now that’s 6.25 points per forward per game so far.
Even though Ulloa disappointed many an owner last gameweek, the Argentine will look to bounce back this week against Newcastle.
#5 Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)
Even in his short Arsenal career, Danny Welbeck has become a sort of an enigma at The Emirates. After missing a golden opportunity to start off his Arsenal career against Manchester City, the former Manchester United man has failed to impress in big games against Spurs and Chelsea. But he starred in the win over Villa and even scored his first career hat-trick in the Champions League encounter against Galatasaray.
Welbeck certainly know to pick off the not so good defences and with Hull, Sunderland, Burnley and Swansea awaiting Arsenal in their next four games, Welbeck should be a prime candidate for transfer into your team.
#6 Punt of the week: Papiss Cisse (Newcastle)
Newcastle fell away last season ever since the departure of their talismanic midfielder Yohan Cabaye; losing 11 pf their last 16 games last season. Yet they finished in the top half thanks to a whirldwind start to the season. There has been no Jekyll and Hyde symptom for Newcastle this season however; it’s all Mr Hyde. Its been brutal, its been ugly and four points from their opening seven games lay testament to their struggles.
Newcastle United fans have found it hard to see any silver lining in these grim times; but if there is something that keeps the oil burning at Tyneside, it’s the fact that Papiss Cisse again somehow resembles the forward we saw at the back of the 2011/12 season. With 4 goals in his last three games, Cisse has given the Midas touch to the Newcastle cause, scrambling home two vital points against Hull and Swansea. With Leicester visiting St. James’ Park this Saturday, not many will bet against the Senegalese putting in a few more to continue on his fine form.
