Top 5 Transfer Rumours of the Day: May 14

#1 Arsenal target Barcelona duo

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to bolster his attacking options and is reportedly targeting Barcelona pair Alexis Sanchez and Pedro this transfer window.

Alexis Sanchez is expected to leave the Catalan club this summer after falling in pecking order under Tata Martino and Arsenal are ready to offer an escape route for the Chilean International. The 25-year-old, who is also a target for Serie A champions Juventus, will cost around £25 million for any interested clubs.

Despite failing to become a regular starter for Barcelona, Sanchez has scored 20 goals and provided 15 assists this term. While, Arsenal are also interested in signing Barcelona’s 26-year-old attacker Pedro, who has also been linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

#2 Man United target Dortmund\'s Mats Hummels

Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. The 25-year-old has been a long term target for the English giants, who are expected to make a bid before the start of the World Cup next month.

The incoming Red Devils’ boss Louis van Gaal will be looking for defensive reinforcements at Old Trafford after the club confirmed earlier this week that veteran centre back Rio Ferdinand will leave this summer alongside Nemanja Vidic, who will join Inter Milan from next season.

The German International has been a key figure for Klopp’s side in recent years and will take a big money move from Man United to tempt the Bundesliga runner-ups. Hummels’ defensive partner Neven Subotic is also a transfer option for the Red Devils.

#3 Barcelona close in on 32m David Luiz

Barcelona are close to seal a £32 million deal for Chelsea defender David Luiz. The Brazilian has struggled to hold down a regular place under Jose Mourinho this season.

According to reports in Brazil, Luiz has penned a five-year deal with Barcelona and an offical announcement will be made after the World Cup. The 27-year-old was subject of speculation even last summer but it is believed that a deal failed to materialize.

Chelsea skipper John Terry signed a new one-year deal to stay at Stamford Bridge which meant Luiz will leave. The former Benfica defender is expected to be first of several Blues’ star to leave the club this summer as Mourinho aims to invest on strikers for next season.

#4 Man City and Arsenal chase Real\'s Angel Di Maria

Newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester City will face competition from rivals Arsenal for the signature of Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.

The Spanish giants are reportedly willing to cash in on the Argentine as Carlo Ancelotti looks to sign a world class striker this summer. French outfits Paris Saint Germain and Monaco are also interested to land the 26-year-old but according to sources in Spain, both Premier League clubs have already contacted Real Madrid.

Di Maria has demanded for a pay rise which appears to have angered club bosses. Manchester City are in pole position to land the £29 million move for winger with his Argentine team-mate Sergio Aguero assisting the deal to happen.

#5 Chelsea offer Lukaku to lure Atletico\'s Diego Costa

Chelsea have offered striker Romelu Lukaku to Atletico Madrid to seal their proposed deal for Spaniard Diego Costa. The Brazilian born striker is hugely expected to join the Blues this summer and talks for a transfer have already begun. Costa, who is Chelsea’s prime target this summer, has a buy-out clause in his contract of about £32million.

However, Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho is ready to offer Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to the La Liga club as an option for part-exchange. The 21-year-old, who scored 16 goals this season while at loan at Everton, looks to have no future under the former Real Madrid manager.

Costa has scored 27 goals for Atletico Madrid this season and has been included in Spain’s World Cup squad.
