Top 5 Under-21 players in the Premier League

The Premier League has produced some of the finest playersof this generation. With many of them aging and retiring, who is going to fill in their boots? Who is going to step up and become the Lampards and Gerrards of tomorrow? Here is a look at the top five under-21 players in the Premier League.

#5 Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arsenal

This lad is not just your typical young and pacy winger. He is showing incredible maturity and footballing intelligence that has seen him thrive in a more central role in midfield. Chamberlain got his England call up in 2012 and has now become a regualr member of the squad. If he can keep his injury problems at bay, he can potentially become the next big sensation in the Premier League.

#4 Luke Shaw, Southampton

Last season, at just 17, Luke Shaw established himself as a regular in this young and talented Southampton side. Playing week in and week out has given him the much needed experience to grow as a player. Luke Shaw has got the ideal attributes for a full back. While he is primarily an attack minded left back who delivers a peach of cross, he is more than willing to track back and help out with the defending. After consistently performing throughout this season, he has deservingly made it into the PFA team of the year. As Andy Gray would say, take a bow son!

#3 Romelu Lukaku, Everton

Lukaku has been nothing short of fantastic. The Belgian international has scored thirteen goals in the league this season and hassolved Evertons striker crisis. How often do you see a 20year old center forward scoring so many goals? With his pace, strength and penetration, he is able to bully even the best defenses in the league. Considering that he is expected to reach his peak after 6 more years, it is frightening to think how good he might become. It is still early days in his career, but he is already showing us that he has got all the makings of a world class striker.

#2 Raheem Sterling, Liverpool

Don't we all love a player who can run and dribble? Raheem Sterling does just that to rip teams apart. His blistering pace and his ability to beat players has made him one of the most lethal wingers in the league.

"Sterling is only 19 but has emerged as a key player, as important to Liverpool's title bid as Suarez,Sturridgeor Steven Gerrard. Like those three, he has different dimensions to his game." -Robbie Savage.

Full backs beware! Raheem Sterling is coming to get you.

#1 Ross Barkley, Everton

The player who has caught our eyes this season is twenty year old English midfield prodigy- Ross Barkley. He is a player who has made giant strides in the past nine months, shedding the tag of a talented starlet to become Everton’s midfield talisman. His positive mentality has given a whole new dimension to the Everton attack. What makes him so good is that he plays with so much confidence and aplomb. A true delight to watch on the pitch, we have certainly got a legend in the making here.
