The transfer mill is expected to be the same this time around with many clubs seeking reinforcements and many players seeking a new start. There has been a buzz around many players and clubs, with players seeking moves away from their respective clubs for various reasons from playing time to better contracts. Nonetheless, the January window is poised to give us some interesting news. Here are the transfer news and rumours for the day.

#1 Serie A

Vidic on his way out of Inter Milan

- Inter Milan defender and former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is all set to terminate his contract with the Serie A club, Sky Sports reports.

"At the moment I don't know much about what will happen in future," Vidic's agent Silvano Martina said.

"Is termination of the contract by mutual consent possible in January? We're talking about it, so we'll see what happens.

"Nothing has been done yet. The lad is fine, for the moment he is focused only on training."

- Bologna have registered their interest in Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez, Calcio Mercato reports.

The Uruguayan’s contract with the Premier League club expires next summer and the 25-year-old might make a return to his former club.

- Juventus striker Simone Zaza is fearful of the fact that he might not be allowed to leave the Turin-based club in the January transfer window, London Evening Standard reports.

The striker was linked with a move to Premier League side West Ham United earlier, however, the Serie A giants are supposedly not willing to let him go as of yet.

-Roma have sacked their head coach Rudi Garcia after some questionable performances from the team. The Rome-based club has won only two of its last nine games.

#2 La Liga

Martinez to Arsenal?

- Atletico Madrid have renewed the contracts of defender Jose Maria Gimenez and forward Angel Correa, Mirror reports.

Gimenez’s new contract can keep him at the club until 2018 while Correa’s new deal will expire in 2019. Supposedly, Jan Oblak will also put pen to paper on a deal in the near future.

- Real Madrid and Barcelona are all set to go head to head for the signing of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, Spanish publication AS reports.

The 22-year-old was named in the FIFA Fifpro XI at the Ballon d’Or ceremony and is also supposedly a transfer target for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

- Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is willing to let Jackson Martinez leave the club for Arsenal, The Express reports.

The Argentine tactician is willing to bring Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan to the Vicente Calderon and Martinez’s departure might just make way for Icardi to join the club.

#3 English Premier League

Shelvey joined Newcastle United on Tuesday in a deal worth £12 million

- Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny is all set to join Arsenal on a four-year deal, Sky Sports reports.

The 23-year-old has supposedly arrived in London for his medical and might make his debut against Stoke City on Sunday.

- Newcastle United have completed the signing of Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey for a reported fee of £12 million.

"I'm very excited to be here. I'm so glad that it's finally done. I drove up through the night to be here so it's been a manic 24 hours, but it's all been worth it to come here and play for this great club," Shelvey said.

Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren said: "I'm delighted to welcome Jonjo. He has great experience for a young English central midfielder. I'm certain he will be a great addition to the squad. He is a player we have admired for some time and we're very pleased that we've now been able to bring him here."

- Chelsea fullback Baba Rahman is frustrated by the lack of first team chances he has got since his arrival at the Stamford Bridge last summer.

"Of course it is frustrating for any footballer to be forced to watch from the stands. I do not want to experience that any longer.

"You have to get used to the Premier League and a big club like Chelsea first when you are a young player like I am, so the first half of the season was alright."

The Ghana international has started just eight matches for the Blues this term.

#4 Rest of Europe

Aubameyang to stay at Dortmund

- Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said that he his happy to stay at the club and wants to win more trophies. The Gabon international was rumoured to be a transfer target of Arsenal and Barcelona after his scintillating performances this season.

"In football nothing lasts for ever," he told Sport Bild. "But my contract runs until 2020, that is a fact.

"I feel happy, still want to achieve lots with Dortmund and win titles, that is also fact. I am here and nowhere else - not at Arsenal, not at Barcelona, not on the moon - you can see that."

- Kevin de Bruyne’s agent has revealed that the Belgian midfielder was all set to join to Bayern Munich before making a move back to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea player joined Manchester City in a £58m deal back in the summer transfer window.

"Kevin's heart was beating for the Bundesliga, where he broke through at Bremen and became a star at Wolfsburg," De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Koster said.

"I'm convinced he would have played for Bayern if they had been able to pay the asking price.'

"We reached a personal agreement with Bayern after two meetings. The deal has collapsed on the asking price."

- Marco Verrati has urged Paris Saint-Germain board to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract. The Swede’s contract with the Paris-based club is set to expire after the end o this season.

"If I was president of PSG, I would prolong his contract without hesitation.

"I know Ibra very well. I see him every day in training and, for me, he remains at his strongest."
