There has been a buzz around many a player and club, some needing reinforcements, others seeking moves away from their respective clubs for more than a single reason. Nonetheless, the January window is poised to give us some interesting news.Here are the top transfer news and rumours of the day from leagues around Europe.
#1 Serie A
- AC Milan are ready to submit a bid for Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel, Forza Italia reports.
The Belgian was subject to a bid from the Rossoneri in the summer transfer window which the Russian club rejected. Witsel also stated his desire to play in the Serie A.
“It’s clear I want to have another challenge at a higher level than in Russia,” Witsel said. “It doesn’t matter where but it’s true that I like Italy.”
- Roma have reignited their interest in Barcelona fullback Adriano, Italian publication Iltempo reports.
The Brazilian international has fallen down the pecking order at the Catalan club and might want to switch clubs in order to find more play time. He has made just six appearances for the Blaugrana this term.
- Juventus have supposedly reached an agreement with Genoa for midfielder Rolando Mandragora, Gianluca di Marzio reports.
Reportedly, the Bianconeri have agreed on a fee with Genoa and will be talking to the player and his agent Vincenzo Pisacane to confirm the deal.
#2 La Liga
- La Liga president Javier Tebas has expressed his desire to keep the two flagbearers of the Spanish football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in Spain amidst rumours that both of them can leave their respective clubs for the Premier League top guns next season.
"We must try to hold on to [Messi and Ronaldo]. It would not be a problem right away if they leave, because we have sold the rights for the next three seasons, but it would have an effect from there on,” Tebas was quoted saying.
According to reports in Spanish publication Sport, Messi is being offered around €27m net a season to switch the Catalan giants with Manchester City. On the other hand, Ronaldo is touted to make a return to his former club Manchester United after reports of him being unsettled at the Bernabeu emerged.
- Barcelona are ready to offer Neymar a new contract, Marca reports.
The flamboyant winger will supposedly receive a considerable pay rise, reportedly earning almost thrice the amount he earns now. The 23-year-old currently pockets 10.5 million euros net a year and the amount which is supposedly being offered to him is around 30 million euros per year.
Neymar has been regularly linked with Manchester City and Manchester United in the past few weeks.
- Atletico Madrid are keen on the signing of Watford’s star striker Odion Ighalo, The Mirror reports.
Since the departure of Diego Costa to Chelsea, the Rojiblancos have not had a regular goalscorer in their ranks and their fresh summer signing, Jackson Martinez has not performed at the level he was expected to. As a result of which, Atleti are planning to make a bid of around £12m to lure Ighalo from the Hornets.
#3 English Premier League
- Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has not been in the club’s fans good books recently and reportedly the former Barcelona star wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
Corriere Dello Sport reports that Inter Milan and Juventus are ready to battle for the signature of the 28-year-old.
- Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj might have his loan spell with Borussia Dortmund cut short to help the Red Devils on the attacking front, The Sun reports.
The Belgian youngster was spotted at the Old Trafford during United’s match against Chelsea alongside other United players. Januzaj has only made six appearances for the Bundesliga side and might return to Old Trafford.
- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to offer Joel Campbell to Celta Vigo in order to bring Nolito from the La Liga club, The Sun reports.
The 29-year-old winger has scored eight goals in La Liga this season and is believed to be one of Barcelona’s transfer targets as well.

- New York City FC midfielder Andrea Pirlo has said that he will not make a return to any of the European clubs this season and wants to see through his contract with the MLS club.
“Rumours about the Inter interest didn’t trouble me. Also other clubs looked for me in these months but I’ve a deal with New York City [until December 2016] and I want to respect it,” Pirlo said when quizzed about the possibilities of him making a return to the European football this winter.

- PSG’s star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has denied to rule out a move to Qatar after his current contract with the Ligue 1 club expires.
"To play in Qatar? I have a good relationship with [PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi] and with the people of Qatar but I can't say anything. Let's just say that it's a possibility,” Zlatan said.
