10 most overrated gaming characters

Usually, characters are the ones that can make or break a game. The features have to be just right - the hair colour, the stance, the physique, and even the clothes they wear. But the main thing that gets the players’ ball rolling, is how well the characters gel with the story. Can you imagine a big, hairy purple coloured, animal, with eyes coming out of his head, and a hula skirt, in Duke Nukem? Or a character like Pac Man or Sonic The Hedgehog in Assasin’s Creed? How bizzare would that be? So, here’s a list of 10 most overrated gaming characters.

#1 Lara Croft

Considered the heart throb of the gaming world, Lara Croft only has looks going for her. There really isnt much to her, behind the tank top and shorts. She has been cleverly covered by a good body, killer guns and her usual attire. One can easily call her a normal girl, who just had the luck to get some really awesome guns, and of course, not to forget thosedeadly moves.

#2 Altair

The superstar of Assasin’s Creed. Altair has been put up on a pedestal, and has been spoken about like royalty. I think everyone forgets the fact that Altair is just plain boring and without a doubt, one of the laziest characters the gaming world has seen. Why? The only thing he does, is tiptoe across rooftops and ride the occasional horse. He avoids work as much as possible, especially when it comes to killing people. I mean, who actually enjoys that, right?

#3 Chris Redfield

Redfield eats Leon S. Kennedys dust. We all know that, and weve all seen it, as well. Hes just in Resident Evil to showoff his good looks and gigantic muscles, anyways. Wait. Those muscles have never even come to use! Hes always been portrayed as one of those guys who has huge muscles, but doesnt know how to use them. During the game, he is flung across the room and is pounded into a table, He cant even throw a punch, for heavens sake!

#4 Master Chief

No one can argue with the fact that Halo is an all time favorite. But when looking at Master Chief, Im sure most people will agree that he is an overrated character. When you think about it, what is really underneath all that armour and the variety of guns? Nothing. Master Chief doesnt talk and definitely doesnt do anything other than shooting people, and doesnt offer any sort of theatrics during the game, either.

#5 Kratos

God of War is just all blood and guts, but when it comes to actually understanding why Kratos does what he does, its kind of insane. Was it really a blunder when he killed his ENTIRE family? This is a man who got so blinded, that he forgot his own family, and bludgeons a bunch of other people, just because he enjoys it. We mustnt forget the fact that he roams around, only sporting a some-what long,loin cloth. Now this is clearly a guy who needs therapy.

#6 Mario

Everyone loved the little Italian guy, but come on. How much of those dialogues can you take? The same thing over and over and over again. Of course its cute! But cute gets annoying really fast, which in this case it has. When he dresses up in those squirrel costumes and what not, I think it just adds to the excrutiating noise that he creates. Unless youre accustomed to Mario, its extremely difficult to actually like him.

#7 Miranda Lawson

Miranda is in the same boat as Lara Croft. All she has is good looks, and a good body. And lets face it, thats the main thing that attracted more people into playing Mass Effect, anyways. Miranda hardly has what we would call a personality, to her. Her backstory just adds to the fact that overall, she has the characteristics of a teenager, and the body of a goddess.

#8 Gordon Freeman

Half Life will forever be a brilliantly executed game. But who is Gordon Freeman outside of his suit? No one knows. Would he even be able to do everything that he does, without his suit? thats highly improbable. Plus, hes only popular because of the people he is with in the game, and the fact that the guns that he carries around are amazing.He never takes his own decisions, and only follows the crowd.

#9 Trevor Philips

I think we all know deep inside, that Trevor Philips is an extremely scary character, and easily overrated. People say hes brilliant. But really? Would you bludgeona bunch of people that you just met? During the course of GTA, we can even see that he tortures people, just for the sake of it. His complete ability to brush aside people that he sees on the street, or anywhere for that matter, shows just how psychotic he really is.

#10 Marcus Fenix

This is another classic exaple of a guy who is all muscles, but doesnt put them to good use. He is also considered to be one of the hotties of the gaming world. Just like Lawson and Craft, Fenix has good looks and a good body. But personality wise? Nuh-uh. He isnt as great as people make him out to be. He can be much better.
