9 FIFA improvements fans would like to see

World class and lesser rated goalies, make both, top class saves & few mistakes. Where is the difference?

EA Sports’ FIFA Video game series is undoubtedly one of the biggest selling video games we have ever seen. It’s a yearly juggernaut that practically owns the digital soccer scene and its Ultimate Team Mode has made it hard to beat. Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer has always been there around but always the perennial Number 2 to FIFA.But with their new age game engine and graphics this time around, Konami are still making EA Sports work harder to please us, the fans. And that should please everyone because it means more fun for us. FIFA 16 is due to release in September end and the excitement has reached fever pitch already. It has already made headlines this year thanks to finally adding the ability to play as female players, a feature described as one of the "most important additions" ever added to the 22-year-old series. But as with every year, feedback from the game's ardent community has resulted in tweaks and changes across the entire pitch. This is a game that is making up some of the imbalances introduced in last year's FIFA 15 that made pace overpowering - but there are also major new features too, such as an interesting new training feature that aims to raise every user's skills.Let us look at few tweaks that can be made to upcoming FIFA video games to make it more exciting for the fans.

#1 Improve the goalkeepers

World class and lesser rated goalies, make both, top class saves & few mistakes. Where is the difference?

By far the most disappointing aspect of FIFA 15 is the hopeless nature of the men between the sticks. Put plainly, the goalkeepers are woeful. It doesn’t matter whether you’re playing with David De Gea, Gianluigi Buffon, or Wycombe Wanderers’ 43-rated Barry Richardson, they flap, blunder and dive out of the way of oncoming strikers.

Surely after more than two decades of mastering the game, EA can develop a decent goalkeeping system? Running the keeper out is suicidal, with a simple tapped finesse shot enough to make the net bulge. And at the end of the day, fans aren’t asking for much; just for their Number 1 to be given a fair chance at stopping the strikers running all over them.

#2 Make world class players feel world class

There is absolutely no difference between a Victor Ibarbo and Robin van Persie at times, in FIFA!

In real life Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are brilliant; they’re two of the all-time greatest players. And on FIFA, they act like it, because they’re both quick and skillful. But for those world stars that haven’t been blessed with blistering pace, it’s hard for them to shine.

Robin Van Persie and Falcao haven’t exactly shone this season for Manchester United, but it’s a tricky task trying to make their obvious quality shine above the rest of the players. It’s no wonder Victor Ibarbo and co. are present in a huge amount of ultimate teams over the world’s supposed top players. Fans want to see physical players bully opponents, pacey players zip past people, technically-gifted players impose their obvious talent on a game, and top defenders should be capable of stopping the lot.

#3 Referee mode

A referee mode will be on the lines of Skill games, to give some uniqueness to the game

Okay, so this is the first off-the-wall suggestion. It probably won’t be seen anytime soon, but referee mode could be a potentially fantastic game mode. Premier League referees have been taking a lot of stick recently from fans, some of it justified, but could the supporters do a better job?

Referee mode could work in a similar fashion to Be A Pro mode. Starting at the bottom, a referee could work his/her way through the leagues the become the best, earning jobs in higher leagues and tournament finals along the way. It obviously wouldn’t be the main aspect of FIFA, but it would be great fun to play around with, especially in a grudge match between two of your friends.

#4 Real managers

Team talks in dressing room, bust-ups on touchlines, how cool will be the Manager Mode?

EA have done a great job implementing more realism within the game, and the inclusion of every Premier League ground was a simple, yet fantastic way of doing so. The next step is to acquire all the rights necessary to drop real-life managers into matches.

The generic, slim, white, ‘suit and tie’ manager you can spot at the bottom of the screen doesn’t really offer anything to the game. Managers would offer some fun new animations and could be used in affecting the team’s style. Quick team talks at half time could provide a well-needed boost for your flagging superstars, or inspire your minnows towards toppling the European heavyweights.

#5 Creation mode for Ultimate team

Creating your own club is a feature FIFA fans have been expecting for ages now

Ultimate Team is FIFA’s gem. It’s built an enormous community and sent the game spirally further ahead of PES, but it still needs some practical features. It’s a gamer’s team, with a gamer’s assembled squad, but they’re wearing the kit of a random team, with the badge of another club, in a probably iconic stadium. To really create a truly unique team, fans should be given the option to design a kit, badge and possibly even construct a stadium using coins they have accumulated.

New sponsors for the kit could garner extra coins for a team, depending on their level in the game. It would add a new dimension to the popular game mode, and keep fans coming back for more.

#6 In-game TV channel

NBA 2K15 had an in-game TV Channel, why not FIFA?

Heres another item that probably wont feature, but could be utilised incredibly well. An in-game TV channel. The game already feels like a Sky Sports broadcast, with the commentators, Jeff Stelling and Geoff Shreeves all in place, so why not go full-steam ahead and have animated studio clips for analysis, replays and general comments on the game pre-match, at half-time and post-match. It seems crazy. and it sounds like a lot of effort, and an unfeasible idea until you realise that the model is already being used in NBA 2K15.

#7 Chest control (Bring the ball down button)

A bring it down button will change the game!

There’s nothing worse than when a pinpoint ball is placed onto your man, but he’s got nobody to aim a header to, and a defender to challenge. It’s like there’s a button missing. Fans should be able to press a button in the same way as heading the ball, but rather than aimlessly flicking on to nobody, they should be able to stop the ball dead, use their chest and generally gain control of the thing.

Like every new move in FIFA, the balance has to be spot on. You can’t just have anybody able to control every ball, but the likes of Marouane Fellaini, for example, should be able to use their physicality to reign the ball in.

#8 Chairman mode

The Challenge of creating legacy for your club, but as a Chairman. Are you up for it?

Similar to ‘referee mode’, chairman mode would not be the main aspect of FIFA, but would allow players to choose how they want to build their team’s legacy. Chairmen could hire or fire managers, demand a certain style, set the budgets and negotiate transfers.

The mode could even include setting ticket prices and choosing when to increase capacity or pull marketing stunts. This would be like taking a more ‘Football Manager’ approach, but that’s the sort of fresh idea people want to see in a FIFA game, although the concept is already tried and tested to work in the Madden series.

#9 Frinedly tournaments/ Pre-season friendlies

Pre-season tournaments can add glamour factor to the season preparations

One of the simpler features in previous versions of FIFA was the ability to choose your own opponents for friendlies in Career Mode. It was such a simple and lucid thing that it was erased by FIFA later on.

But with the advent of International Champions Cup, Audi Cup, Emirates Cup and various friendly tours of top teams across Asia and North America, Pre-season friendlies have also become glamorous.

Thus, EA Sports should seriosuly consider addingvarious pre-season tournaments & ability to upcoming versions. This can also be coupled with money making ties that can add to your transfer budget. Also, managers should get an option to make unlimited subsititutions to give every player a run up in the pre-season.
