The ISL teams and their marquee playersWith the Indian Super League just about 24 hours from kick-off and the last of the jerseys launched last night, here is a team by team guide for all you fans out there:
#1 Atletico de Kolkata
As the name clearly indicates, the Kolkata franchise, who are partly owned by the Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, have a jersey very similar to the RojiBlancos.
So, the Atletico de Kolkata jersey comprises of red and white vertical stripes. The kit will be manufactured by Umbro, and have Aircel as their principal sponsors, and Apollo Munich as the co-sponsors, whose logo will appear on the back of the team jersey.
#2 Chennaiyin FC
Chennaiyin FC launched their official kit a couple of days back, and also announced their principal sponsor for the ISL. Ozone Group have come on board as the team sponsor, as they have been associated with football at the grass-root level with the Ozone Football Academy.
Their jersey is blue in colour, and will have the Ozone Group's name on the front, along with the team crest.
#3 Delhi Dynamos
The Delhi Dynamos, based out of the capital of the country, have not yet officially announced their jersey, but reports indicate that they have an orange jersey, sponsored by Lotto.
#4 FC Goa
FC Goa are a team loaded with stars, like Robert Pires their marquee player, or the Brazilian legend Zico, their coach, or for that matter one of their co-owners, ace cricketer Virat Kohli while movie star Varun Dhawan is their brand ambassador.
Their jersey too, is very vibrant and stylish, navy blue in colour, with little bits of orange stripes surrounded by white around the neck and sleeves. Adidas is the kit manufacturer.
#5 FC Pune City
The FC Pune City franchise have David Trezeguet as their marquee player, and Italian Franco Colomba as their coach. The team is a very solid unit, who have genuine ambitions of going ahead and winning the inaugural edition of the ISL.
Their kit consists of orange and purple vertical stripes, and is sponsored by DIDA sportswear.
#6 Kerala Blasters FC
The Kerala Blasters, based out of Kochi, are co-owned by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and PVP ventures head, Prasad Potluri.
Their kit was launched by the master blaster Tendulkar last week, where it was revealed that the kit is yellow in colour, with Puma the manufacturer, and Muthoot Pappachan Group the principal sponsor, with the group tagline displayed on the jersey.
#7 Mumbai City FC
The team is co-owned by Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and chartered accountant Bimal Parekh. Their official colours are a combination of blue with red, with a red stripe going across the front. Watch a very funky video of their jersey launch here:
#8 NorthEast United FC
The team will sport a very simple, yet stylish jersey during their matches. NorthEast United FC’s jersey is sponsored by Adidas, and is predominantly white in colour, with black and red in between, and has an interesting collar design.
The team indicated that the colours red, black and white are synonymous with the North Eastern culture and so were integral to the design.
