Shahid Afridi has a lot of records under his belt. Known all over the world for his big hitting, he slowly started to show what wonders he can do being a leg-spinner, with the ball. Apart from being the most capped T20 player in the world, he has many memorable records to his name. Let us have a look at the 10 most important of them.
#1 Second fastest ODI hundred

For many a year, he was the proud owner of one of the most astonishing world records: fastest century in limited overs internationals, with a hundred off just 37 balls. Very recently, Corey Anderson surpassed it, thereby pushing Afridi to number 2. Nevertheless, a great record to possess considering he scored that in the year 1996.
#2 Second fastest fifty in ODIs
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/fifty-1400154678.jpg 1920w)
The most notable achievement here is that he did it thrice. The 18-ball 50 was made once each against Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Bangladesh. Not surprisingly, he also has scored fifties off 19, 20, 21 and 22 balls.
#3 A fifty and a 7-wicket haul
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afriditrademark-1400154644.jpg 1920w)
Afridi produced the greatest all-round display in a one day game when he scored 76 runs with the bat and picked up 7 wickets with the ball. He is the only player to have done that, and it came in his comeback game for Pakistan.
#4 Second most number of ducks
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ducks-1400154717.jpg 1920w)
One record he wouldn’t be proud of is this: with 29 ducks in his career, Afridi stands just behind Sanath Jayasuriya in the list of most number of ducks in the 50-over format’s history. He also has made the most number of ducks in the history of the T20 World Cup.
#5 Most wickets by a captain in a World Cup
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/wc-1400154722.jpg 1920w)
He finished as the joint-highest wicket taker in the 2011 World Cup with 21 wickets. No other captain has picked up that many wickets in a world cup. Incidentally, the man who held the record previously was also a Pakistani legend: Imran Khan.
#6 BOOM BOOM Afridi
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/boom-1400154754.jpg 1920w)
That’s his nickname indeed. The single biggest reason behind his tremendous popularity among the masses are his huge sixes. He is the only player in the history of the sport to have scored over 400 sixes across all formats.
#7 Youngest ODI centurion
![](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/afridiwhites-1400154787.jpg 1920w)
Shahid Khan Afridi was just a 16-year-old boy when he smashed that 37-ball hundred in 1996. Almost two decades later, nobody has managed to eclipse that special record.

He has won the Man-of-the-Match award 32 times in his distinguished one-day career, and that’s the highest for a Pakistani. In T20 internationals, he leads the list overall with 9 awards.
