The Nexus - Where are they?

If at all the word 'revolution' needs to be associated with any WWE stable in the recent past, look no further than 'The Nexus'. After stables like DX, The Corporation, Evolution and many more dominated the industry during their respective era's, the WWE came up with the idea of a bunch of NXT rookies invading the company and waging the war on the authority.The idea may seem outdated, but it certainly went down well with the fans. It was crictically received and catapulted many superstars to the heights of fame. The year 2010 paved out a path for the youngsters to put a stamp of authority in the squared circle and become future champions.Let us now have a look at what the Nexus members, once led by the charismatic Wade Barrett are currently upto in the WWE or elsewhere.

#1 Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett, the cuthroat Brit led the Nexus angle in the WWE. He was touted to become the next big thing in the wrestling industry. He had the offence, he had the attitude and he also did plenty of trash talking for starters. He posessed all the characteristics needed to become a top heel in the business.

He was successful for quite some time, becoming the Inter continental champion and all that. But after that, it was a drastic fall for Barrett. He formed another unsuccesful stable called the 'Corre' with fellow wrestlers Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater.

After being irrelevent in the WWE for some time, he is now repackaged as 'bad news Barrett' a superstar who finds amusement in insulting others and conveying 'bad news' to the WWE universe.

Fall from grace they say!

#2 Heath Slater

'He is the one man baaaand babayyyy' !! Heath Slater has had a more than an eventful WWE career. From playing a key role in the Nexus angle to becoming a part of a stable that has made losing a habit, Slater has managed to do it all in such a short span of time.

His claim to fame in this span of time is that he openly challenged almost all the WWE legends who were making regular appearences on RAW until the 1000th episode build up and he lost to almost all of them with the exception of Doink (Yawn).

Other than that, he was also a part of the infamous Corre and 3MB aka 3 man band with fellow superstars Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre before WWE decided to end their contracts. The group has found a knack of losing all their bouts and are still unitedly losing as we speak.

#3 Skip Sheffield

Skip Sheffield aka Ryback was almost a non performing Nexus member. He suffered an ankle injury and had to leve the group mid way through the storyline. He has however made an impact in the WWE after being repackaged as Ryback.

With 'Feed Me More' as his only agenda, Ryback squashed fellow wrestlers and developmental talents like there was no tomorrow. He challenged the likes of John Cena, CM Punk and Mark Henry for starters.

It was however his rivalry with Cena that gave him a career break. He faced Cena for the title at Payback and Extreme rules. But was unsuccesfull in his quest.

After all that, he again faced Cena in a zillion dark matches after RAW before being made to team up with fellow Nexus member Curtis Axel.

He is currently 'agenda less' in the WWE just like his tag team partner.

#4 Michael McGillicutty

Michael McGillicutty aka Curtis Axel is our next man on the list. After having a short stint with the Nexus, he was repackaged as Curtis Axel, the son of late great Mr Perfect.

With the wily Paul Heyman by his side, he debuted impressively by picking up a win over Triple H. He also ignited feuds with John Cena and CM Punk to claim a stake in the main storylines.

He won the Intercontinental title as well and defended its honour on multiple occasions. But, when Heyman decided to manage Brock Lesnar instead of Axel, the IC champion lost his importance.

He legitimately lost the title and was away from wrestling due to a hip injury. He then returned to the ring and is currently partnering Ryback, his former Nexus ally.

#5 Darren Young

The first WWE superstar to openly 'come out' is our next on the Nexus list. Darren Young has had a subdued career unlike his other peers.

After being exiled from the Nexus, he formed a tag team with fellow NXT member Titus O'Neil called the 'Prime Time Players'. The team fared quite poorly in its initial days. However after Young's 'confession' , they got the necessary push needed and unsuccesfully challenged The Shield for the WWE tag team titles. They eventually broke up due to a conflict onscreen.

Young is currently nursing an injury and is out of action for around 5 months.

#6 David Otunga, Justin Gabriel and Michael Tarver

Up next on the list is Harvard law graduate David Otunga. After the Nexus stint, Otunga involved himself in various short feuds. He got his big break when he was handpicked by former RAW general manager John Laurinites to help superstars voice out their lack of confidence in Triple H.

He then took up the legal persona for quite some time before beginning to wrestle again. He last made an appearence in the Andre The GIant memorial match. where he was eliminated by Big E Langston.

Michael Tarver was released by the WWE pretty much after his Nexus stint. He suffered an injury during the angle, which kept him out of action. He is currently wrestling in the indpendent circuit.

Justin Gabriel, like most of the others has a mixed bag in his WWE career. He clearly stood out in the Nexus team with his looks, his high flying moves and impressive offence.

After the stint concluded, he began his career as a singles wrestler before joining leader Wade Barrett and the others in the "Corre' setup. After that was dissolved, he competed for the U.S and the tag team championships but was unsuccesfull in his quest.

He then formed an impressive high flying tag team with Tyson Kidd. However, after Kidd was ruled out of action with a prolonged injury, Gabriel has resumed his singles career again.
