The WWE Superstars were always open to the experiments with their facial hairs. Some trimmed it neat and clean while others choose the barbaric ways to show off their well rooted strands.Though moustaches fall under the facial hair classification, its the beards that are spreading like wildfire in recent times. From the openers to main eventers, the beard has been tried on by a plethora of superstars. The fans enjoyed seeing them with the beards as well and since some of the biggest draws in the company now dons a trademark beard, here is a look at some of those superstars who looked dashing with their beards.
#11 Honorable Mentions
Edge
Sheamus
Ted DiBiase
#10 Randy Orton
From an early age itself the WWE knew that Orton was something special. They lived no stones unturned in pushing him to the top and the young boy with the clean cut face slowly began to rise to reach the top of the ladder.
As Orton rose and his maturity increased, one thing that grew along was his facial hair. The Viper used his Beard perhaps to show that he was no longer that boy who needed the push. Orton tried many variations with his beard which stood by his both in his face and heel runs.
Still he dons a beard and without which Orton might look like that young boy again which wouldn’t be good for a top heel like him.
#9 Daniel Bryan
There might be much bigger names in the list as we go on, but Daniel Bryan is someone who deserves to be in the list just because he made the beard a phenomenon.
Unlike most of the other superstars, the success of Bryan lied in the fact that he was able to incorporate the beard into his character. The fans were buying into his beard and he also had nicknames which had beard in them.
The whole B+ thing with the Authority was also part of Bryan’s shabby look but he certainly showed everyone that it’s not about the looks once he gets in between the ropes to grapple with his foe.
#8 Bray Wyatt
Another contemporary star from the lot, Bray is also someone who used the beard to evolve his character from a babyface rookie into a cult leader.
During his run as Husky Harris, Bray used to done a weird beard which did nothing to his appearance. Innocence was just flowing from his face when he smiled with that face but that isn’t the case now since he grew his hair and beard to creepy extents.
The guy who delivers some epic promos and freaks out his opponents inside the ring is clearly better than the previous incarnation, and it would only be a lie if we say that the beard had nothing to do with it.
#7 Mick Foley
Ever wondered what Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack had in common apart from the part that they were played by Mick Foley? Well they all had beards.
Foley is a hardcore legend when it comes to wrestling and the fact that he pulled off all three faces of Foley without making changes to his facial hair is actually something which deserves appreciation.
Along with that with the amount of barbwires he was going through, Foley would’ve endured less pain if he had a clean face. But Foley decided to keep his beard intact which in turn gave us a face that comes to our mind in the mere mention of hardcore wrestling.
#6 Triple H
Triple H always managed to keep his clean cut face during his D-Generation days, his Authority days and during his Hunter Hearst Helmsley days, but then when he turned heel back in the late 90s hunter decided to grow a beard.
The hair made him look cocky and arrogant as the only thing that the fans wanted was to knock him out. It was a situation of the beard being a hit with the fans.
Hunter also had a bearded run in 2005 as well which was also pretty successful to say the least. With such momentum riding on his beard, it’s only a surprise why he decided to trim it off.
#5 Randy Savage
Macho Man Randy Savage was always a hit with the ladies with his good looks and great physique. The WWE was also high on pushing him to the top due to the same reasons plus his in ring skills.
And like everyone else on the list, Savage also had his own trademark beard. His black face covering thick beard stands out from his experiments. Randy even had a beard after retirement which showed shades of grey but still was holding up.
Being one of the biggest stars in the early 90s alongside Hogan, Savage clearly enjoyed growing a beard because he knew he was settling a trend.
#4 CM Punk
Punk had some variations with his beard throughout his career, but a personal favorite has to be the one which he had during the time he was leading the Straight Edge Society.
With long hair to go along with it, Punk looked more like Jesus which went well with the character he was playing at that time. He also had a beard during his long title reign and he clearly knew how to carry one.
Once he turned face, he decided to shape it like the one Wolverine had then again, Punk looked great with the facial hair on him rather than it not being there. He clearly didn’t look that credible without a beard which wasn’t something he was looking for to appeal to the wide WWE Universe.
#3 Hulk Hogan
Hogan clearly shocked everyone when he turned heel at WCW to aid the NWo angle. He had a lot of heat from the fans as he showed a whole new attitude towards everyone.
One major part of that was the beard he grew. Being in the NWo, Hogan began to appear with his trademark yellow moustache and underneath that was a coal black beard which went with his new heel run. It was revolutionary times for Hogan and his character and the beard camouflaged well into the mix.
And Hogan was on top of almost all posters and merchandise that WCW had with the beard which made it one interesting beard during the Monday Night Wars and to the start of Attitude Era.
#2 Undertaker
Taker and his streak are legendary among the fans even if it came to an end recently. And whenever Taker comes into the spotlight, for some people things which mark his presence might be his moves or his aura, but for others it might be his beard.
Just like most of the Superstars, Taker has also done a lot of alterations to his beard over the years. And with a career which spanned almost three decades long, he clearly had a lot of time to do that as well.
Almost all the success that Taker had in his career came with the beard in his chin and though he would still have his aura with the beard off his face, it had turned into something off a trademark of Taker which might make a lot of sense once we look back.
#1 Stone Cold Steve Austin
The beer bashing rattle snake is someone who made the beard take over the fans. the character of Austin during the Attitude Era was so revolutionary that every fan wanted to be like him even though he was setting a bad example to be precise.
And one of the most notable traits from Austin’s appearance was his beard which separated him from the boys.
Austin had long blond hair and a clean cut face during his initial run with WCW and ECW but at this point the number of fans who could imagine Austin without a beard may not be that much, because that’s the bottom line.
