Here is a list of the top 10 highest scores in IPL by a team. Quite expectedly, the 10 matches here also saw various other records being broken en route to setting up these highest scores in IPL history.

#10 221 - Kings XI Punjab

In IPL 1, Kings XI Punjab scored 221/3 against Rajasthan Royals. Punjab reached this huge total with the help of stellar contributions from Shaun Marsh, James Hopes and Yuvraj Singh. Shaun Marsh scored 115 off 69 balls with 7 sixes and 11 fours, while Yuvraj and Hopes scored 49 and 51 respectively. Punjab won the match by 41 runs and booked their place in the semi-finals.

#9 222 - Chennai Super Kings

In IPL 5, Chennai Super Kings scored 222/5 against Delhi Daredevils. Indian opening batsman Murali Vijay scored 113 runs in 58 balls. In what was a play-off fixture, Delhi were all out for a total of 136, bringing an end to their title hopes.

#8 222 - Kolkata Knight Riders

In IPL 1, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 222/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This was the first match of the IPL, and BrendonMcCullum blasted an unbeaten 158 from a mere 73 deliveries, a record for thehighest scorein a Twenty20 match at that time. The splendid knock was filled with 13 sixes and 10 fours.

#7 223 - Chennai Super Kings

In IPL 6, powered bySuresh Raina's 99* off 52 balls,Chennai Super Kings made 223/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Michael Hussey supported him in setting up a massive target by scoring 67 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, in reply, crumbled under the pressure of chasing it down.

#6 223 - Rajasthan Royals

In IPL 3, Rajasthan Royals scored 223/5 while chasing a target of 247 set by Chennai Super Kings. Naman Ojha scored 94 off 55 balls (6 sixes and eight fours), while Shane Watson scored 60 runs off 25 balls with 5 sixes and 5 fours.

#5 231 - Delhi Daredevils

In IPL 4, Delhi Daredevils scored 231/4 against Kings XI Punjab. In this match, both Warner and Sehwag scored 77 runs in 48 and 35 balls respectively, hitting 4 sixes each.

In response to this huge total, Punjab fell short by 30 runs. Shaun Marsh's 95 off 46 was not enough for Punjab to reach the massive target set by Delhi.

#4 232 - Kings XI Punjab

In IPL 4, Kings XI Punjab made 232/2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The then captain Adam Gilchrist scored 106 runs in 55 balls (9 sixes and 8 fours), while his fellow countryman Shaun Marsh played an excellent second fiddle, scoring 79 runs in 49 balls (5 sixes and 7 fours). The 206-run partnership for the second wicket between Gilchrist and Marsh is the highest in a Twenty20 game, besides being the first double-century partnership in the format. Punjab won this match by 111 runs: the second-highest victory margin in IPL history.

#3 240 - Chennai Super Kings

In IPL 1, Chennai Super Kings scored 240/5 against Kings XI Punjab, a match in which former Australian batsman Michael Hussey scored 116 in 54 balls (9 sixes and 8 fours).

Kings XI Punjab tried hard to reach the target, but they fell short by 34 runs. Australian all-rounder James hopes' 32-ball 71 went in vain.

#2 246 - Chennai Super Kings

In IPL 3, Chennai Super Kings scored 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals. Murali Vijay led the way by scoring 127, which happens to be the highest score made by any Indian batsmen in the history of the league. His knock included 11 sixes and eight fours.

#1 263 - Royal Challengers Bangalore

In IPL 6, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 263/5 against Pune Warriors.Gayle's 175 not out in this match is thehighest individual scorein all Twenty20 matches, while the total of 263 is thehighest by any team. Gayle also registered the fastest century ever scored in T20s, with his 100 coming off just 30 balls. The West Indian big hitter hit 17 sixes in this match: themost in an innings in a T20 match.
