This week’s Smackdown was very solid, eventful with lots of exciting and interesting action. Storylines were furthered in preparation for the upcoming Payback PPV. The Blue brand is still a while away when it comes to holding importance with the fans, like RAW, the edition this week wasn’t too bad.The show featured some solid bouts, a tantalising tag team championship bout and a jaw-dropping main event that left fans in awe.So let’s take a look now at the top 5 moments from this week’s episode of Smackdown.
#5 Wyatt attacks again
Last Raw Bray Wyatt attacked Ryback following his bout with Bo Dallas. On Smackdown, Ryback battled former Wyatt family member Luke Harper.
The Ryback v Harper match was actually surprisingly good as both big men went back and forth exchanging momentum. Ryback looked exceptionally strong and picked up the pinfall.
Post-bout Wyatt appeared, similar to on Raw, and beat down Ryback. WWE are clearing pushing ahead with the Wyatt v Ryback rivalry and one would assume Wyatt (who is fresh off a feud with Undertaker) will most likely go over.
#4 Sandow is back
Last episode of Raw we saw the official return of ‘Damien Sandow’. On Smackdown we saw his first return to actual in ring action since picking the ‘Sandow’ name back up. This was just a simple bout against Curtis Axel which allowed Sandow to pick up an easy win and gain some more momentum.
Sandow seems to still be using the stunt double gimmick in his character, mimicking ring announcer JoJo in a humorous manner. We also saw the return of his You’re Welcome finisher which he used to score the pinfall victory.
#3 Reigns/Ambrose unite
Following the main event of this week’s Smackdown, The Authority began a sever beat down on Dean Ambrose. That’s when Roman Reigns appeared to make the save.
Reigns and Ambrose began working together and cleared all the entire heels from the ring standing tall to end the show.
The 2/3 Shield reunion was appealing to fans of the amazing faction. Hopefully we will see a triple threat championship match sometime in the future (maybe at Wrestlemania 32?) featuring all three Shield members.
#2 Tag team division shines
The tag team division has been on fire lately despite The Usos being out of action largely due to the dream team of Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. That being said, we still have to give credit to tag team champions The New Day who are now flourishing as heels and have still been delivering consistently solid in-ring performances.
This week was no different as we saw an awesome tag team championship match between The New Day and The Brass Ring Club.
Xavier Woods got involved giving Cesaro/Kidd the win by DQ so New Day retained their titles.
#1 Rollins v Ambrose
The hottest rivalry of 2014 between former Shield brothers resurfaced again here on Smackdown and the result was phenomenal.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose battled it out in an intense back and forth match up that captivated the audience in attendance. The current WWE World Heavyweight champion was able to pick up the victory with his new DDT variation finisher following some minor distractions from The Authority at ringside.
Rollins v Ambrose was easily the best part of this week’s Smackdown and hopefully we will see Dean Ambrose pushed again in the coming months especially with a potential money in the back victory looming.
