The marquee foreigners in the Indian Super League have won several team honours in their playing career in the past and their winning mentality will be priceless for their respective franchises. The newly-signed Brazilian of Chennaiyian FC has won the domestic league with both Santos in Brazil and Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. The 33-year-old also lifted the South American version of the Champions League, Copa Libertadores, during his second spell at Santos. At international level also, Elano has tasted success in the form of Copa America and Confederations Cup. Mumbai City FC’s Freddie Ljungberg has also won seven major honours in his career but Elano makes the top five because of his success with the national team.

#4 Mikael Silvestre - 9
All the major club honours of this French defender have come during his nine-year spell at Manchester United. The new Chennaiyian FC signing won the EPL title in his first two seasons at United and added three more before leaving in 2008. He also won the FA Cup while the biggest moment of his club career came in his final season as he was part of the Champions League winning squad. Silvestre didn’t win the World Cup or European Championship with France but lifted the Confederations Cup twice.

#3 Alessandro Del Piero - 9
The Juventus legend won the Serie A title six times during his 19-year spell there while two titles were revoked and awarded to Inter Milan due to the Calciopoli scandal. Del Piero also won the Coppa Italia once but arguably the biggest achievement in his club career came in the 1995-96 season as he lifted the UEFA Champions League. Ten years later he was part of the Italy squad that was crowned world champions in Germany. The Delhi Dynamos striker is placed above Silvestre as he won the World Cup.

#2 Robert Pires - 9
The FC Goa signing gets the nod ahead of Del Piero and Silvestre for winning more trophies at international level. The Arsenal legend won the EPL twice with the north London club including the 2003-04 title, when the Gunners went an entire season unbeaten. Pires also won the FA Cup three times, scoring in the 2003 final. The international success came earlier in his career as he won both the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship with France besides lifting the Confederations Cup twice.

Anelka has also been successful at international level with Les Bleus, winning the 2000 European Championship and 2001 Confederations Cup.
