John CenaFirst impression is the best impression and when it comes to professional wrestling, a wrestler’s first impression is his theme music. Ever since WWE started using theme music to introduce superstars, it has managed to evoke emotions among the WWE fans. Now, there are themes we love and there are themes we hate. In between these two extremes, there are some themes we forget. These do not get the appreciation they deserve despite being wonderful artworks. So now that the themes are an integral part of the wrestling business, this list takes a look at those Entrance themes which we often miss out during heated debates on which is the best one.
#10 Christian Original theme
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The entrance theme that Christian had back in 2004 and the one that he had in the latter stages of his career did not have many differences. It was practically the same song, but the 2004 version was more impressive than the new one. Most of the wrestling fans are not aware of Christian’s old theme and this is what makes this one underrated.
It was actually a girl which sang the original theme and it should have been used more by Captain Charisma instead of bringing in modifications. The theme he had in TNA was also quite impressive but from the lot, 2004 one stands out and makes it into the list.
#9 The rabid Wolverine
Just like WWE buried every trace of Chris Benoit from its history books, they buried his entrance music as well. The Rabid Wolverine had a great entrance theme during his stay in the WWE and the fans loved it as well. But since the tragedy, WWE has made no mentions of the same and it is a shame that such a good music is not used anywhere.
A new wrestler coming out to the theme of Benoit would completely blow the roof off and would instantly put him over as a personality. It would be “pushing the envelope” type of a move, but this entrance theme deserves more exposure than what it receives now.
#8 Im Back Theme of Eric Bischoff
Eric Bischoff shocked the world when he came out on Monday Night Raw. The man, who was hell bound in destroying WWE was all of a sudden working for the company. It was a classic example of extreme things happening in the professional wrestling business. While many of us were busy getting surprised or busy hating him, we probably forgot about his entrance music.
The number leaves a lasting impression and though it might not suit Bischoff’s character, the theme is good to hear and that is what matter the most once the smoke has settled down. Get the earphones (or pump up the speakers for that matter) in and start hearing.
#7 CM Punk ECW Theme
Ever since CM Punk started making a name in the main event scene, his entrance music started getting noticed. Right now, it is an entrance theme that the fans would die to hear. But this is not the theme we are going to talk about here.
The entrance theme that makes it into the list is Punk’s ECW theme. He had a wicked theme down in the WWE’s version of ECW and this theme often gets overshadowed by the new theme that WWE gave him. Punk was fresh during his ECW stay and the music complemented his entrance pretty well. This is a theme that WWE could use again just like most of the other themes in this list.
#6 Corporate Ministry Theme
The corporate ministry stable had some memorable moments during its stay in the Attitude Era. Seeing the likes of Shane McMahon, Undertaker and Vince McMahon working as a single unit felt good to say the least. Just like the stable, their theme music was also awesome. It was a mixture of Vince McMahon’s No chance in hell and Undertaker’s theme, along with some dialogues here and there from Shane.
Mixing so much together could have easily ended up in a big mess, but fortunately, the end product was a fun theme music. We don’t see this theme in many discussions and that is exactly why this one finds a place in our list.
#5 American Badass
The first thing that comes to our mind when we hear the name ‘Undertaker’ would probably be the darkness and the music that comes with it. We will always remember the Phenom like this. But there was a portion of his career where Undertaker threw away his dead man gimmick and rode a bike into the ring.
American Badass might be a period which Undertaker would love to forget, but his entrance theme was cool. It was perfect for the biker gimmick and at the same time, it suited Undertaker as a whole. The current theme is apt, but the old one deserves its credit for being a solid one.
#4 John Cena Word Life
John Cena’s current theme is attracting a lot of attention from the fans. Whenever he comes out, one portion of the fans cheer, while the other portion jeers. It is a common sight in all the arenas he goes into and it has turned into the new era ‘Kurt Angle theme’. Keep that aside and think Cena coming out with a different theme. Imagine Cena coming out to his old Word Life theme.
The mental picture of the same is so good, isn’t it? The Thuganomics gimmicks were what made Cena what he is today and a lot of credit goes to the theme music he used back then. He used is a couple of years back during his feud with The Rock and he should use it more often.
#3 Randy Orton Legend Killer
It would be safe to say that Randy Orton’s best period came during his Legend Killer Gimmick. He had some memorable matches during that time and it was also a turning point in the Viper’s career. The current theme of Orton is spectacular but at the same time, his Legend Killer one was impressive as well.
Most of the fans would have a nostalgic connection towards the theme and rightfully so. If WWE ever wants to use this in a booking situation, they could give the theme to a new superstar and let him attack Randy Orton thus completing the life cycle. It would be a sure shot success feud.
#2 Hollywood Theme of Rock
When Rock came back to WWE after his short spell in Hollywood, he wanted everyone’s attention. He wanted the fans to know about his Hollywood connections and the best way to do that was to give him a Hollywood based theme. Just like the one Miz pulls off at the present, Rock was given a Hollywood theme but it was more graceful than the one Miz have now.
We always overlook the Hollywood theme of Rock due to his original and more famous theme. However, this theme was more apt to the situation and even had a story behind it, unlike the one he regularly uses.
#1 Across the nation by the Union Underground
Get ready to be swept away by a tsunami of nostalgia. While the other entries of the list is superstar themes, this one was the theme of Monday Night Raw. And this one was arguably the best Monday Night Raw theme as well. Before all the PG era stuffs creeped in, hearing this was the best part of Monday Nights.
Apart from the opening and closing scenes, WWE also had the habit of using the theme during Diva segment which made the theme more lovable. We might not get to hear the theme in WWE again, but it was fun while it lasted.
