2014 has been a great year for the WWE. We have seen the rise of superstars like Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and also the dominance of established WWE biggies John Cena, Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar.WWE in 2014 is a motley blend of incredible heel turns (The Shield, Big Show, Mark Henry), heart-stopping returns (Batista, Brock Lesnar) and adrenaline rushing moments (Daniel Bryan wins WHC). 2014 remains a prominent year in the WWE calendar, as the dominant 21-0 streak of The Undertaker came to an end.Brock Lesnar had a series of landslide victories in 2014. There are a few questions to be answered and hopefully we may find the solutions in 2015. Heading into the new year, let us have a look at these 5 highly anticipated events.
#5 Daniel Bryan return
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
2013 and the first half of 2014 was a dream run for Daniel Bryan. He won the ‘Superstar of the year’ award for 2013 and achieved several milestones in 2014. He was put into all sorts of difficulties by ‘The Authority’ but Bryan always emerged victorious.
The numerous encounters with Randy Orton, the ‘Yes’ movement, the feud with the Shield and the Wyatt family are all remarkable. He did the unthinkable at Wrestle Mania 30. He defeated HHH and went on to win the triple threat match for the WWE WHC on the same night. Daniel accrued a lot of fame and the arenas echoed with the ‘Yes’ chants.
Daniel was pile-driven on the steel steps by Kane on RAW and this caused Bryan a serious neck injury. He was out of action for the second half of 2014. Bryan has recently appeared on RAW and Smackdown as the in-charge of the show for that night.
Daniel confronted Rusev on the latest episode of ‘Tribute to the Troops’. Daniel looks in good shape now and he is expected to make a comeback in 2015. The WWE universe would love to see the bearded man back.
#4 The Authority and the next GM of Raw and Smack down:
2014 belongs to ‘The Authority’. HHH and Stephanie ruled the WWE kingdom for more than 15 months, starting in mid-2013. Randy Orton, Kane and Seth Rollins were also a part of the administration. They enjoyed immunity and got a lot of benefit. Kane went through a corporate makeover and the demon transpired into the so-called ‘Director of Operations’. Randy won the WWE WHC title and Seth became Mr. Money in the Bank.
Vince made a shocking announcement on Raw last month endangering the career of ‘The Authority’. A traditional survivor series match between ‘Team Cena’ and ‘Team Authority’ took place in this PPV and ‘The Authority’ lost the match and their power.
This left a huge void in the administrative domain. A few episodes of Raw and Smack down were run by Daniel Bryan, Santino Marella, Chris Jericho and Hulk Hogan. The new GM should be appointed and it is likely to take place in the first few weeks of 2015. This is a huge event as far as the WWE universe is concerned.
So, we could see a John Laurinitis or Teddy Long or Booker T or even a new GM in 2015.
#3 Rusevs first WWE loss
The Bulgarian brute, the super athlete, Rusev was undefeated till date. He made astounding performances in the ring in 2014. He made his WWE debut in Royal Rumble in January and was never pinned since then. He defeated some established WWE superstars like Jack Swagger, Big Show, Mark Henry, Cesaro, Ziggler and Sheamus.
There was an intense rivalry brewing between the big Russian and Americans. The ravishing Russian Lana always runs her mouth on America. The WWE universe is eagerly waiting for a match in which Rusev would be defeated.
Doing this, with a tinge of jingoism on the part of USA would be a fitting way to end Rusev’s winning row. The WWE creative team is expected do this before the first 2-3 PPVs in 2015. So, Rusev is one superstar to watch out in 2K15.
#2 Seth Rollins Cashing-in his MITB contract:
The corporate child of HHH and Stephanie, Seth Rollins has been impressive throughout 2014. He betrayed his former shield brethren Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose and joined hands with ‘The Authority’. He was gifted with the MITB briefcase.
Seth has attempted to use it on a few occasions. He had problems initially with Dean Ambrose who always obstructed him from cashing in when Cena was the champion. When Brock Lesnar became the WWE WHC things became tougher for Rollins.
He made a futile attempt to cash it on Lesnar at NOC. Two weeks back on RAW, he joined hands with Paul Heyman and this shocked the WWE fans. The WWE universe would surely witness Seth’s moment in 2015. It would be interesting who Seth’s opponent would be- Lesnar, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton or Roman Reigns?
#1 Brock Lesnar losing the WWE WHC title:
Brock Lesnar is portrayed as the synonym of dominance, by the WWE. He was on a dream run in 2014. He defeated ‘The Undertaker’ at Wrestle Mania and proved to the world he was bigger than the 21-year-old streak. He gave John Cena, a beating of a lifetime and relentlessly snatched the title from Cena’s waist. He has battered the 15-time champ and left him lifeless at summer slam- mind you, Cena has been the face of the WWE from 10 years.
Lesnar took a 3-month vacation and returned to Raw and delivered a vicious F5 to Cena. With all this being said, Who would win the title from Brock?? Will it be John Cena again? Roman Reigns? Daniel Bryan? It is a big ask.
Hopefully 2015 would tell us the answer to this question. Who would beat Lesnar and become the new WWE WHC? The New year has a lot of answers and so let's welcome it cheerfully.
