Daniel Bryans elimination at the Royal Rumble was responsible for the cancel network hashtag that trended all across the social media. The WWE universe wanted to see Bryan headline WrestleMania just like last year and could not believe when their hero was eliminated in some awful fashion. Now that Bryan is almost out of the WrestleMania main event picture, the next obvious task will be to find him a new opponent.Vince McMahon apparently has no intentions of giving Bryan a big championship angle for the pay-per-view so it will be apt for the fans to look into the upper midcard and beyond. There are a handful options available for the booking team and here is a look at the best names from the lot.
#5 A NXT Superstar
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Bryan will not probably feature in a WrestleMania match that is driven by storyline but he could be in a match driven purely by wrestling. One of the reasons why Bryan has been kept away from the main event is because he is a wrestler rather than a superstar.
He does not have the looks of John Cena or the body of Hulk Hogan, but Bryan was born to wrestle and he could wrestle better than both the men. So the best option would be to let Bryan do what he does best.
And since the number of great wrestlers in the WWE main roster is limited, the writers should look down to NXT to find someone who could stand toe to toe with Bryan. Names like Finn Balor, Adrian Neville, Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owen are known for delivering great matches with Bryan and one of them could steal the show at WrestleMania as well.
#4 Bray Wyatt
This match would make a lot of sense since it was Bray Wyatt who eliminated Bryan at Royal Rumble. The duo has a history that dates back to last year and they blew off that feud with a great match.
If the rumored plan for Undertaker is not going to materialize, Bray will also be looking for a feud heading to the Mania period. The Flying goat once again trying to slay the monster heel will sell if pulled off right and people will not complain about it as well.
With the right amount of buildup, these two could deliver the best match of the night at WrestleMania as well and make Vince realize that it is time to retire.
#3 Chris Jericho
Jericho might not be in the WWE roster at the moment but he is likely to be there in time for WrestleMania. He is not anywhere near his prime, but Jericho could still make someone look good just with his microphone work.
He is known for being one of the most decorated promo workers in the company’s history and that is exactly what the company needs to wipe away the mess. Jericho could talk the fans into forgetting what happened at Rumble and engage them in a Jericho – Bryan showdown at Mania.
It might not end up like a wrestling clinic but with the amount of experience that both the superstars bring in, it will be a good watch for the fans.
#2 Dean Ambrose
When Daniel Bryan was injured and taken away for surgery, Dean Ambrose filled in that void to become the beloved babyface in the company. He was complete opposite to Bryan but still, Ambrose managed to build up a cult following.
Though he was a successful babyface, Ambrose is a natural heel. He knows how to get heat from the crowd and his microphone work suits if he is playing the bad guy. The Lunatic Fringe currently has no one to feud with.
Turning heel and feuding with Bryan will be a great career boost for Ambrose at the moment and Bryan will benefit from facing a credible heel who knows how to tell a story in the squared circle.
#1 Dolph Ziggler
This is a dream match for all the Internet Wrestling fans out there. Ziggler and Bryan are probably the best in ring performers in the current main roster with the only competition being Seth Rollins.
While being the best wrestlers, Bryan and Ziggler are at the same time most ignored. For some reason or the other, the management refuses to give the duo the deserved limelight and if a match is made between the two at WrestleMania, then they are going to steal what they rightfully deserve.
They have the ability to outclass any permutation that WWE will put forward into the WrestleMania card and will attract a lot of respect from the crowd for actually ‘wrestling rather than sports entertaining.
