#1 Rob Van Dam holds the best active undefeated streak at WrestleMania
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Everybody knows about the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. The defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar brought an end to Taker’s 21-year-old unbeaten run at WrestleMania and the second to Roman Reigns has all but extinguished the flame of his career.
This also meant that another performer took over the baton as the best unbeaten wrestler at ‘Mania with four victories and zero defeats – Rob Van Dam.
Mr. Monday Nights made his ‘Mania debut at WM 18, defeating William Regal for the Intercontinental title. Him and Booker T retained the World tag team title at WM 20 as well. Van Dam took over the moniker of Mr. Money in the Bank with a ladder match victory at WM 22 and was also victorious in a tag team match the following year.
He did suffer a defeat on the preshow of WM 19, teaming up with Kane in a losing effort for the World tag team titles, but RVD is perfect in the main show.
#2 The Rock has never been successful in a World title match at Wrestlemania
The Rock might be one of the greatest performers of all time – but he has never left a WrestleMania with the WWE title in his arms.
The Rock would main event WrestleMania for three consecutive years – from WM 15-17 – with all three appearances in the WWE title match. Steve Austin would deny him twice as would Triple H once. He would also drop the WWE title to John Cena in their second WrestleMania showdown a decade later.
In fact, the previous year’s non-title encounter with John Cena is the only occasion where The Rock has been successful in a WrestleMania main event.
#3 A WrestleMania with no male 1 on 1 matches
Can you imagine the greatest show of the year with no heated personal one on one matches? Well, believe it or not, Wrestlemania 2000 did not have a single male singles match on its card.
The main event was a fatal four-way for the WWE title, the Intercontinental and European titles were on the line in a Triple Threat match and the Hardcore title was defended in a Battle Royal.
The only singles match that took place that night was a cat fight between Terri Runnels and the Kat!
#4 Steve Austin and Trish Stratus are the only wrestlers to make heel and face turns at WrestleMania
WrestleMania is the perfect place to make that unexpected face or heel turn – the setting is perfect and the impact would be great. WWE Creative has chosen to make multiple turns at Manias – including Triple H’s heel turn at WrestleMania 15, Andre the Giant’s face turn at WrestleMania 6 and so on.
However, only two people have made a face and a heel turn at the Show of Shows – Stone Cold Steve Austin and Trish Stratus.
Austin would make a face turn at WrestleMania 13 in the courses of a double turn with Bret Hart and he would make a heel turn at WrestleMania 17, where he would double cross the Rock in cahoots with Vince McMahon.
Trish betrayed her tormentor Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 17 with a face turn, whereas she went on to slap Chris Jericho in the face and aligned with Christian at WrestleMania 20.
#5 WrestleMania 27 is the only show not to witness a title change
It seems weird thinking about it now.
WrestleManias are guaranteed at least one title change – but when WrestleMania 27 was done and dusted, the fans found themselves not witnessing a single title change. To put things into perspective, only three title matches were scheduled for the show.
Among them, the Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan US title match was pushed to the pre-show. Edge would beat Alberto Del Rio to retain his World Heavyweight title, whereas The Miz would retain his WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event.
