Monday Night Raw came on the heels of a big announcement advertised by Triple H on Smackdown less than a week before. The biggest part of the episode of Raw wasn’t the big announcement at all. It was the way they went about telling various stories. And there were some major developments in that aspect. And many of them do sound interesting. Here are the 5 storylines that WWE may have kicked off on Raw.
#5 One Vs All
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
WWE has made a move that may help Roman Reigns in the run up to the Wrestlemania main event. And what helps is that Reigns isn’t smiling or trying to be humorous. His time on the mic lately has been about sending the message across in as few words as possible and that’s good.
On Monday, The Authority came out with the stipulation that Bryan face Rollins to determine who faces Reigns at Fast Lane and the winner of that PPV match gets to go to Wrestlemania.
They actually made Reigns look like a lone wolf. He is being booed by the hardcore fans and even though he’s cheered by the casual fanbase, Reigns is eventually going to go up against the biggest babyface in the company. That’s also a huge pressure situation and they’re actually making him seem vulnerable yet tough. And if executed carefully and properly, he may just sway more and more support.
#4 Ambrose for Champion
While his former tag team partners seem to be hanging in there in the main event, Ambrose has had a little different journey and that is understandable given how different his character is. Ambrose was left without a feud after the array of gimmick matches against Bray Wyatt.
He is popular, he is a great all round performer and he sure as heck is entertaining and on Monday he demanded a title match against Bad News Barrett. Barrett has since shot down that demand. But it seems Ambrose may as well face against another person who’s been only losing matches and maybe Ambrose may get to hold the once prestigious championship.
#3 Rusev The Brute
Rusev is one of the few NXT superstars who’ve actually had a good showing in the main roster. And he’s one of the very few heels who’ve had an impact. He is easily loathed and his gimmick has been successful thanks to the way he plays it and Lana’s promos.
On Monday, the Russian Flag couldn’t unfurl properly and that made Rusev have a rage attack. That was hilarious and enjoyable for a crowd that loathes him. It was a great moment. If it was a spur of the moment, impromptu performance, then it just goes on to show how great a performer Rusev is.
John Cena’s opponent is making a case of why his streak shouldn’t be ended at the hands of the face who runs the place.
#2 The new face of fear
Bray Wyatt gave his trademark promo and he addressed someone who once used to be a symbol of fear and then came to be loved and admired. And he talked about how the devil can’t wait to see the said person again.
The said person has to be The Undertaker. It has to be. No doubts about it. It has been the year of speculations coming true and Bray Wyatt facing Undertaker at Wrestlemania may just come true.
The biggest takeaway is the audience may just be taken to a fantasy journey with two great, spectacular entrances as a bonus.
#1 The Hero named Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler fought Bray Wyatt in one of the best matches of the year. And he looked great even if he was booked to lose. Ziggler has no impending feud for Wrestlemania. But there is one feud lingering in the minds of his biggest fans and that seed was planted by the WWE. And the plans are, as per reports, for the leader of the Yes Movement to face The Showoff.
And maybe, Ziggler may just be the cause of the loss Bryan may face at Fast Lane.
For now, Ziggler is being welcomed by Cena, surrounded by being overshadowed by Sting for the Survivor Series victory and it all may come down to Ziggler turning heel.
