It’s all about expecting the unexpected at the Rumble this Sunday. Even if we have a high profile match involving Brock Lesnar, the Royal Rumble match will take the lion’s share of the programming. And it should. So many stories are born, some reach ther conclusions, some start speculations and some moments just might change a superstar’s whole career. It’s going to be an eventful Sunday and WWE has built towards it in a great way as they usually do with all the Big 4 PPVs.Here are five things that might happen:
#1 Somebody other than Bryan or Reigns winning
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
There. Let’s get the elephant or rather elephants out of the room.
Reigns and Bryan are huge favorites. There is a strong case going for both of them. Bryan is the crowd’s favorite. Reigns is the managment’s favorite. Reigns has the look and the casual fans are attracted to him. Bryan has a story behind him with his injuries and The Authority lurking behind to take him out and he’s the biggest babyface in the company right now.
All of this screams predictability.
A victory for these two isn’t all that satisfying. Reigns is not the hardcore fans’ favorite and he has a Rumble record and Bryan has already main evented Wrestlemania.
Why not let somebody else win for once. We know Reigns and Bryan are going to be relevant moving towards Wrestlemania. But there can be someone else who can benefit from winning the iconic Rumble match?
#2 Reigns pulling a Hogan
Why is Reigns in a feud with The Big Show?
Big Show is a superstar who has, as years pass, moved towards being less and less interesting. Being a giant hasn’t saved him from F-5s and countless AAs.
Eliminating Big Show is not really a huge deal. He hasn’t won a Rumble match ever. That means he’s been eliminated everytime. Reigns may just pull a Hogan and Suplex Show or just pick him and throw him out.
#3 Somebody from NXT making an impact
Rusev and Bo Dallas have already been entrants at previous editions of the Royal Rumble while they were still NXT rookies. Both of them were given an opportunity to do something that people won’t forget. They didn’t just come to get immediately eliminated.
Last year, NXT emerged to be the best show out of all the shows WWE produced. It was a redoubtable performance by the rookies. It is only apt to have one of them come and make their presence felt and tell the Universe that the future has arrived and here to stay for the longer haul.
#4 Randy Orton or Sheamus returning
These two former winners are expected to return and make a big impact as well. While Sheamus should and will not win, Randy Orton is a dark horse. he doesn’t really need a Rumble victory. He’s a marquee guy and his star won’t shine brighter if he returns and wins. But he surely might make a huge impact and with this Rumble having stars like Ambrose, Bryan, Reigns, Wyatt, Ziggler, Ryback, Rusev- Orton’s involvement and his RKOs out of nowhere may make things even more interesting.
But as star studded as the card already is- Orton may not return at the rumble afterall. I repeat, a win or loss does nothing to take his shine.
#5 Ziggler turning heel
Again, it’s just a possibility. Ziggler is one of the best babyfaces and he plays that role as greatly as he played being a heel. he is an apt underdog story. The thing is he survived the Survivor Series main event, eliminating 4 of the five Team Authority members in some way or the other but the credit goes to Sting at the end of the story. Then Cena gets his job back.Ha Ha. How nice of SuperCena.
Here’s the thing- he might get some heel heat if he eliminates Daniel Bryan at the Rumble.
