The fans that were treated with some legendary air at WrestleMania are all set to go Extreme on Sunday with Extreme Rules.WWE has put together an interesting eight match card for the pay-per-view which has started to stir some confusion regarding the carriers. The launch of WWE Network was clearly a nail on the pay-per-view carriers but it took a small scale PPV like Extreme Rules to magnify the exact effect as WrestleMania was immune to them. The pay-per-view sure promises to be a step in new direction at all aspects as the roster is also getting a big shakedown. With the chances of the match card getting alterations on an all-time high, here is the final predictions and possible twists for Extreme Rules 2014.
#8 El Torito vs. Hornswoggle (WEE-LC Match)
Will John Cena beat Ric Flair's record? A former WCW Champion thinks so HERE
Surprisingly, the feud between El Torito and Hornswoggle has been very much entertaining till now. The two small men have propelled the relevance of 3MB and Los Matadores with 3MB even getting a win in the process.
With the addition of small sized Ladders and chairs is going to make the things even better. It will be a fair match up for El Torito also who is actually a very talented in ring worker.
Hopefully he could carry Hornswoggle in the match and live up to the big match hype that WWE has been giving it. There is no result other than El Torito winning this one as Hornswoggle still has a plethora of things to learn from the bull.
Prediction: El Torito wins
Possible Twists: Introduction of another small wrestler
#7 Alexander Rusev vs. Xavier Woods and R-Truth
Though the odds are stacked against Alexandre Rusev on this one, he is sure to walk out of Extreme rules as the winner.
WWE did some good work by giving Truth and Woods some momentum prior to Sunday but it still doesn’t overpower the dominance that Rusev has been showing. The only purpose of the match would be to show Rusev as a monstrous competitor on pay-per-view.
Last time WWE pulled off something like this with Ryback and unfortunately for him it was just two local opponents who no one knew. Since Rusev has much more seasoned opponents, he could make a bigger impact and thus go on to be more successful than Ryback.
Prediction: Rusev wins
Possible twists: The Match being shorter than expected
#6 Big E (c) vs. Bad News Barrett (Intercontinental Championship)
The company has built up both men with a lot of momentum leading up to the match and it looks like it’s going to be clash of equal strengths.
Big E was ruthless on SmackDown against Titus O’Neil while Barrett earned his spot in the match beating three former World Champions. Big E has been champion for a long time now and it is clearly the time to put someone new in the spotlight.
Barrett is the best choice at the moment since there are reports of Vince McMahon backing him. He has the skills to live up to the expectations as well which makes it an ideal decision to let Big E drop the title and let Barrett have his run.
Prediction: Bad News Barrett Wins
Possible Twists: Big E successfully defending
#5 Paige (c) vs. Tamina Snuka (Divas Championship)
Paige heads to the match as the Underdog despite being the one to break AJ Lee’s year long reign as divas champion.
Tamina is going to be the first real test for the former NXT champion since it is a clear improvement from Aksana and Alicia Fox. Being on the pay-per-view will also help Paige to get some exposure which she needs to get before her much anticipated feud with AJ Lee.
There is no other possibility that Paige winning this match as it needs to happen to make her look good. despite being only 21 years old Paige has more experience in the ring than most of the divas in the division which makes her a deserving holder of the title.
Prediction: Paige Wins
Possible Twist: AJ Lee returns
#4 Jack Swagger vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro (Triple Threat Elimination Match)
After what happened at WrestleMania, the match that everyone expected to see was one between Swagger and Cesaro as they needed that to end the Real American connection.
But WWE wisely introduced Rob Van Dam into the mix by playing up the old relation that Van Dam and Paul Heyman had. Now what we have in our hands is a good old triple threat match. With nothing at stakes, it’s going to be something special but the elimination rules were uncalled for.
Swagger is sure to be the first one to be eliminated as he carries no momentum whatsoever heading into the match.
From Cesaro and Van Dam, Cesaro will be the favorite as well unless WWE wants to show some friction between Heyman and the King of Swing to set up a match with Lesnar in the future.
Prediction: Cesaro wins
Possible Twists: Rob Van Dam aligns with Jack Swagger, Paul Heyman has friction with Cesaro
#3 Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena (Steel Cage Match)
Bray Wyatt covered up well for the loss at WrestleMania when he pulled off some great segments in the build up to Extreme Rules.
He clearly has Cena cornered with everything he has done and will be looking to unleash himself inside the steel cage. But the problem with all this is that, similar things happened in the build up to WrestleMania as well but didn’t end up doing any good for Bray.
Extreme Rules have to be different if WWE is to keep their priced possession looking strong. Cena has to take a fall for the future at Extreme Rules. The steel cage stipulations promise to give an exciting match and if Bray wins it’s going to be an exciting outcome as well.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins
Possible Twist: Cena showing his dark side
#2 Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kane (Extreme Rules Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
The feud between Daniel Bryan and Kane is nothing about the championship and has turned out to be a personal one.
It’s a bit surprising to be frank actually since what we all expected was WWE to put Bryan in a feud which will project how hard he had to fight to get his hands on the gold. But the championship is only on the background now.
The match being under Extreme Rules gives both the superstars to showcase their best offering and it also hides the flaws of Kane. Bryan’s injury will be played up again just like WrestleMania and he will be the underdog as usual.
Bryan’s title reign is going to continue however but WWE clearly needs to take him out of the underdog champion status.
Prediction: Daniel Bryan retains
Possible Twists: Brie Bella and Stephanie getting involved
#1 Evolution (Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista) vs. The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns)
Arguably the most anticipated match of the night, the six man battle between the stables is sure to steal the spotlight from all the others.
Shield was given the upper hand in the last encounter which may suggest them winning the match. However, WWE wouldn’t be foolish enough to end this feud with only one match since it has a lot of money in it.
Evolution is sure to get a win from it with the only question being how they will get it. Since Triple H has a lot of influence here and there, it could come in form of an added stipulation which will turn the tables.
Another interesting aspect will be the involvement of Ric Flair, who endorsed the Shield last time and there is a possibility that he might reverse his words and cost Shield the match. Whatever happens, Evolution is going to get a tainted win to stretch their feud with Shield.
Prediction: Evolution wins
Possible Twists: Ric Flair involvement, some members of the Shield turning.
