World Wrestling Entertainment is all set to go extreme on April 26, 2015 at the Allstate Arena. Though we might not see extreme scale up to levels of the original ECW, we might get to see some gimmick matches here and there or even throughout the pay-per-view.Following up a show like WrestleMania would be a herculean task for the creative team and they could go in with everything they have. What this ensures is a platform for the superstars to shine. Just like all the other pay-per-view spotlights, Extreme Rules will see a handful of superstars stand out while some others could crumble under the same. We’ll care about the latter category once the pay-per-view goes into record book and take a look at some of the possible names which could fall into the former.
#5 Randy Orton
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
A match that has been in the build for one whole year will take place at Extreme Rules when Seth Rollins and Randy Orton will lock horns for the WWE Championship. No, the feud between Orton and Rollins is not one year old, but Orton’s WWE championship rematch is apparently a year old.
It will be Orton’s first chance to headline a pay-per-view in a longtime and he is not going to let that opportunity slip by. This coupled with the chemistry that he has with Rollins, and is looks all set to be a solid outing for the viper.
Orton might not walk out of the pay-per-view as the winner, but he is surely going to walk out of the pay-per-view with his heads high.
#4 Prime Time Players
Now, this might be a surprise in the list but Prime Time Players are experiencing a very high amount of activity on television. The promo time that they get every week is pretty effective as things stand now and the fans have accepted Prime Time Players as fun baby faces.
The question now would be about their potential opponents at Extreme Rules. Ascension and New Day are the prime candidates in the running and it could serve as a buffer feud before the Prime Time Players gets pushed into the tag team championship scene. It’s good to see the team getting back in full swing and what they need now is a thoroughly deserved Championship reigns somewhere down the lane.
#3 Neville
Neville, just like all the other NXT superstars, came into the main roster with a lot of pressure on his shoulder. The fans were worried about WWE screwing up the entire thing, but from what we saw last week, the creative team is apparently taking good care of the former NXT champion.
He won his debut match without much trouble and was put into a match against the WWE Champion in his second outing. Neville did lose the match but his gutsy performance against the top heel in WWE stood out just the way he needed it to.
Extreme Rules will be Neville’s first opportunity to shine under pay-per-view spotlight and no matter who he faces; he has the ability to steal the show.
#2 Dean Ambrose
It would be a sin not to mention about Dean Ambrose when talking about Extreme Rules. He is probably the closest thing that WWE has to the original ECW and WWE is probably going to put Ambrose to good use at the pay-per-view.
Ambrose is known for giving extreme matches from his Independent days itself and did pull out a couple of tricks from the hat during his WWE stay. However, there is a lot more to come from him and if provided with the right stipulation, Ambrose can make the fans jump out from their seats.
Luke Harper is the most probable opponent for Ambrose at Extreme Rules and it is the best thing that he could get at moment with the exception of Seth Rollins.
#1 Seth Rollins
Rollins shocked the entire WWE Universe at WrestleMania with his Money in the Bank cash in. He was hands down the best performer of the pay-per-view and looks all set to carry that momentum to Extreme Rules.
Now that he is the champion, there will be an added pressure to step up his game but Rollins has been here in the past. Rollins is a former champion at NXT and Ring of Honor. Though these don’t scale up to where the WWE championship stands, Rollins is a professional who knows to adapt.
He has some great chemistry with Orton as mentioned earlier and these two could give out a ‘Match of the year’ contender if WWE doesn’t mess things up with over booking and interferences.
