Extreme Rules for its lack of build up, turned out to be a decent PPV. But there are some things that WWE could have done without, and there were things that they could have executed in a better fashion. But having a near perfect PPV is rare in the WWE, though they have pulled such feats off before. It was PPV which had one great match from an unlikely pair of opponents and had its own share of extreme moments, aided with the hardcore crowd in Chicago. But still, here are the few things that did not really work in favor of this PPV-
#1 Kiss Me Arse stipulation
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
This stipulation shouldn’t have made it to this PPV. It’s quite embarrassing. Ziggler won the match and Sheamus refused to follow the stipulation, which is fine and it would have been great if they hadn’t gone through with it. But. They did. And it was Ziggler who had to eventually do the deed, albeit forcefully by Sheamus himself.
This was a forgetful story of how a good match was ruined by a loony stipulation that just did not work.
Given the kind of talent involved, this was a plain, flat out embarrassment.
#2 Cena vs Rusev
For all the brutality that should come along with an Extreme Rules match, Cena Vs Rusev suffered in that very aspect. The level of aggression did not even match the tremendous build up to Wrestlemania. It’s great that Cena won and his Open Challenge for the title will continue and of all his title defences, the one with Kane was the worst of all but this one with Rusev was certainly another disappointment.
Out of all the bouts on the card, this one was the biggest disappointment as far as matches go.
#3 New champs
The New Day won the tag team championship after a match that was extremely entertaining. But the one thing that majorly hampered this victory was the lack of stroyline. New Day are not yet over as a group. The fun match was shadowed by the fact that the tag team division just doesn’t have a storyline to get invested in. No amount of great matches can overcome the fact that there isn’t something fans could be interested in.
