This PPV had a mostly casual audience or maybe the crowd was just too apprehensive in being ardently participative but this will go down in history as a memorable Pay Per View. There were so many moments that if played in front of a hardcore audience, the arena would have been in danger of coming crashing down. There were some smart decisions towards a smarter build up for Wrestlemania. And at this point Wrestlemania sure does look good. Here are the 5 promising developments from the inaugral PPV-
#5 The Brute
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
They don’t call him the Bulgarian Brute for any frail reason. The outcome of the match could have been expected. I mean, how do you beat a guy who’s been the face of the company for the longest time and who sure as well never taps out or essentially, like his motto, never gives up? And add to that his opponent has a submission move. Cena, as history would tell you, won’t tap out. And he really did not. He was rendered unconscious. Rusev wasn’t Brock Lesnar from Summerslam 2014, but he sure as well came close. He was mighty impressive and this gimmick is a rousing success. He’s here to stay, people.
#4 Orton\'s back
Of all the nights that WWE could have Orton return, this wasn’t the perfect night. He returned in an all too predictable fashion and the crowd wasn’t as excited as it should have been. But yet, it was a relief to finally see him return and RKO four times. This added to the already amazing Wrestlemania build ups. And Rollins is certainly having a match with The Viper. It’ll be worth watching how Orton interacts with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and Rollins on Raw.
#3 Nikki Bella\'s night.
Over the years, WWEhas made it quite believable not to expect anything spectacular to come out of the women’s division in a PPV. But this night was a bit different. Nikki Bella was at her best and her improvement in the ring cannot be ignored. Paige’s arrival into the main roster has certainly allowed more aggression to be displayed by the women. This match was good as there is hope that they’ll have a better set up for Wrestlemania. The wait for Paige to finally lock in the modified Scorpion leg lock or for her to emerge as a badass is rising. And it’s making things interesting. Add to that Nikki Bella being a mean girl and hence a convincing heel and to top that her improving in ring talent- we might just have a convincing women’s match at Wrestlemania since Trish Stratus vs Mickie James.
#2 Dean Ambrose is the man
At the beginning of the night Ambrose made a statement which Triple H made in CM Punk’s DVD- it’s not the championship that makes a man, it’s the man who makes a championship.
Ambrose belived he was the man and so did the audience and even though Bad News Barrett hasn’t had a single memorable reign with the IC title, this may just be his memorable feud. Barrett was a really good heel in this match and these two have a decent in-ring chemistry and that is why when Barrett kept on running away, it made things more interesting. Things got more serious when Ambrose got disqualified and he kept asking Barrett, “You’re the champion, then why you running?”
He kept repeating that. That has to be a gut punch and then as fun as he is, he took the title with him. He deserved it afterall. That ought to keep this match for Wrestlemania.
#1 Wyatt\'s the new face of fear?
And hence, it was all made officially known. Bray Wyatt is targetting the Undertaker and that may only mean that Undertaker will answer his challenge. Wyatt came to the arena in a casket to Undertaker’s theme song and then exited in that very same casket. This was spectacular and bizarre and it makes the build for Wrestlemania look stronger than ever. In 35 days, Wrestlemania is surely expected to get all things in place for a massive treat for the audience. And the casket may be symbolic as the match between Wyatt and Undertaker can end up being a Casket match.
