WWE’s latest edition of Hell in a Cell would be nothing short of transitional. They don’t have a WWE champion to headline the pay-per-view as a conventional outing and it might also see two youngsters headlining the show.Despite all those freshness in the mix, it will be hard for the WWE Universe to forget how bad the buildup went. The chances of the company screwing up the show due to this can’t be ignored, and there are certain booking decisions that they could do to ensure this screw up.So, as the WWE will be looking to pick up their business on Sunday after a forgettable Night of Champions, here are the waters that they should keep away from.
#8 Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella
This might actually be the least anticipated match in Hell in a Cell due to lack of heat that the Bellas have been attracting. Some good old bad acting coupled with stale narrative has cost the Bellas big time but the stipulation in their match is somewhat encouraging.
The loser has to be the personal assistant of the winner for a whole month which would make the feud much more interesting to see.
As far as the in ring action is concerned, there is nothing to look forward to as both the Bellas are not known for their in ring work.
Nikki is the favorite to win the match as well since a face character taking advantage of such a stipulation would turn the whole thing upside down which is not what the company wants.
Prediction: Nikki Bella wins
#7 Usos vs. Dust Brothers (Tag Team Championship)
Just like the Brie – Nikki clash, this match also comes in with the least amount of heat possible. The main reason for this is WWE’s idea of booking their tag team champions.
The Dust brothers have been taking a lot of losses after winning the championship at Night of Champions making them look like unworthy champions.
Usos on the other hand were booked in a complete opposite manner. They picked up wins in almost all matches and are riding on a wave of momentum. However, despite this momentum, they are the favorites to lose here.
Dust Brothers still has something to give as champions and taking the title away from them on Sunday would make both the teams cheap.
Prediction: Dust Brothers retains
#6 AJ Lee vs. Paige (Divas Championship)
Though AJ and Paige have faced eachother many times this year, there is certain freshness in their match. The fans can never predict what they will get when two crazy chicks get in between the ropes and this contributes to the earlier mentioned freshness in the match.
Adding some more craziness in the form of Alicia Fox make matters more chaotic from the go. Alicia might have a big say in the result of the match as she could tilt it either ways.
Choosing a winner of this bout is no easy task. The title has been switched a lot of times in the past few months and something similar could go down on Sunday as well.
With Paige winning the title, WWE could build up a triple threat match for Survivor Series with the three divas and keep AJ in the mix as well.
Prediction: Paige wins
#5 Sheamus vs. Miz (United States Championship)
Sheamus and Miz would be fighting it hard in between the ropes but the show stealer would be Damien Mizdow. Sandow has outgrown the character that was given to him and ended up being a more over star than the Miz.
The two competitors in between the ropes have good chemistry as we have seen in the past and might raise the bars higher in a pay-per-view stage.
Miz could go into a program without the help of United States Championship while Sheamus needs it to keep his ship floating in the midcard.
Sandow is sure to play a big role in deciding who wins the match and if WWE is planning an angle between Miz and Sandow, then Sheamus should come out winning.
Prediction: Sheamus wins
#4 Big Show vs. Rusev
It would be Russia vs. America version: we lost the count on Sunday when Show and Rusev would lock horns in the squared circle.
WWE did a great job of pushing the match as a big thing and Rusev in particular deserves credit for attracting a lot of heat all the way. The American patriotic fans would be dreaming about Show’s victory, but professional wrestling doesn’t work that way does it?
The purpose of Big Show is to make Rusev good and the same would happen at Hell in a cell. The two would give out a good match which will then conclude in Rusev’s triumph.
Defeating Show would further boost Rusev’s resume and he would then be put into a much bigger feud while Show would slip into the abyss of irrelevance.
Prediction: Rusev wins
#3 Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro (Two out of Three falls match for the Intercontinental championship)
From a wrestling point of view, this is the match that promises to be the show stealer. However, it is void of emotions and buildup which makes it only a potential success on wrestling level unlike the Dean Ambrose – Seth Rollins match.
Ziggler heads into the match with the least momentum possible since he has been picking up a lot of losses. Cesaro is no different but he did get one over Ziggler last week on Raw.
The two out of three falls stipulation brought out the best in Cesaro when he faced off against Sami Zayn last year and if a portion of that magic can be replicated, the fans would go home smiling.
In the end, Ziggler might not go home with the championship around his waist since Cesaro would be a much fresher choice as champion.
Prediction: Cesaro wins.
#2 Randy Orton vs. John Cena (Hell in a Cell match)
Having written about this match a million times before, it is hard to find new adjectives for the occasion on Sunday. Usually when two men wrestler inside a Cell, it is a matter of being excited but Cena – Orton is a whole different story.
With the experience that these two men brings into the ring, the match will definetly end up getting a four star rating in the wrestling observers list.
However, WWE would find it hard to keep the fans from chanting ‘boring’ from the start. The No.1 contender ship is up for grabs and this makes Cena the favorite.
Orton has a feud lined up with Rollins next leaving Cena free to finish up his feud with Lesnar most probably at Survivor Series.
Prediction: John Cena wins.
#1 Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (Hell in a Cell match)
It’s going to be one of those situations where the fans will riot if this one doesn’t headline the pay-per-view. This match has all the resources needed to become ‘the’ match of the year unless WWE decides to screw things up.
The first thing that comes into our mind when speaking about Hell in a Cell would be Mick Foley’s big bumps and both Ambrose and Rollins would try something similar.
They will be confined by the PG era restrictions but that doesn’t take away the energy and risks which will be encapsulated into the match.
And when it comes to the result, Rollins is a clear favorite since he needs the win to improve his heel heat. Ambrose would mind taking a drop as he will be over with the fans no matter what the result is.
Prediction: Ambrose wins.
