The latest edition of Monday Night Raw probably wasn’t the best show in recent history but all of the segments that took place in the Echo Arena of Liverpool had some kind of backstory to it.Last week, the company gave a lot of importance to the Survivor Series main event between Team Cena and Team Authority and that paid off to a certain extent. There were a lot of concerns before the show started on how the fans in United Kingdom would welcome the WWE, and the reaction underlined the company’s concerns.Despite all the minor slip-ups here and there, the company did hype Survivor Series in a good way from the start to the end of the show. And here is a look at the best moments that came out of this week.
#5 Shes not here
Breaking up the Wyatt Family was going to take a heavy toll on Erick Rowan. Bray being the patriarch had all the resources to survive a break up while Luke Harper had managed to establish himself as the ‘best of the lot’ even when the team was together.
Rowan unfortunately has always been a little short-handed. His biggest asset in between the ropes was his sheer power and his move set was pretty much dependent on that.
The only thing that could’ve helped Rowan was his creepiness and WWE made use of that one trait when they designed a new storyline for him.
Last week, he had a small one liner with Renee Young and the fans thought that it was just a random segment. However, Rowan coming out and saying ‘She’s not here’ this week cleared the air surrounding the situation and made sure that the fans will be seeing a creepy love angle between him and Renee.
#4 3 faces of Adam Rose?
Before inventing the whole party animal gimmick, Adam Rose was Leo Kruger, a hard hitting South African who was known for his rough style in between the ropes.
He was having trouble cracking into the main roster with that gimmick and was forced to take the current silly one, even though the former was garnering some positive reaction from the fans.
Though Rose reached the main roster with his party gimmick, things didn’t turn out good for him. He did get a lot of wins but Rose has no storyline whatsoever. Recently however, the company started teasing a heel turn from him which might be a trip back to the old Leo Kruger character.
Mick Foley was known for pulling off three separate gimmicks during his time with WWE and Rose could do something similar. If that is the case, then the segment he had with his bunny on Raw was just the start of things.
#3 Where\'s Captain B+ today? Sitting at home, watching. Yes! Yes! Yes!
There was a lot of pressure on the WWE creative to pull off a great opening segment in order to keep the fans in Liverpool silent. And when they searched their bag pack, they found three of the best talkers in the form of John Cena, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
If putting in those three in the segment wasn’t enough, they also had the story tangled around Ryback while names like Seth Rollins, Mark Henry, Kane, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury were in the mix as well to make sure that the fans were on the edge of their seats.
The verbal battle between Cena and the Authority to lure Ryback into their respective teams was nothing short of entertaining. The words that came out were things that the fans would want to shout out loud for a long time.
And of course, Hunter taking a few jabs at Daniel Bryan never gets old, does it?
#2 The last man standing
November 10, 2014 was the night that belonged to Ryback. The big guy was piling up some babyface momentum after his return and his character was shot right into the main event scene on Raw this week.
The reaction that he got while sharing the ring with John Cena deserves a mention and so does the way he carried himself throughout the match.
There is a certain amount of confusion as to which side Ryback might choose but those concerns can be addressed in the future. As far as this week goes, Ryback laid out the likes of John Cena, Kane, Mark Henry, Seth Rollins and Rusev, which is mighty impressive.
His luck might’ve finally turned and hopefully WWE won’t screw him up like they did last time around.
#1 I\'m a team player
Fans who followed WWE programming regularly over the past year would know about the amount of talent that Luke Harper has. He came into WWE with a wealth of experience in the independent scene as Brodie Lee and it was just a matter of time before he had a singles run.
That moment seems to have finally arrived as Harper closed this week’s Raw on a high note. He impressed the Authority by taking out Dolph Ziggler and might well get a place in the Survivor Series main event.
Nothing has been confirmed yet but Harper is the best choice that Team Authority has. Ryback has been hot thanks to the face run and turning him all of a sudden wouldn’t make any sense.
Harper at the same time is a heel who could get into the main event scene and even challenge for the WWE Championship. What we saw on Raw was just the start of Luke Harper’s rise and there is a lot more to come from him in the future.
