Hell in a Cell is just two weeks away and the WWE made big strides towards the pay-per-view when they booked one big and one obvious match for the annual show. The John Cena-Dean Ambrose match proved to be a big regret for everyone who missed the show even it was miles away from being a solid bout. However, the result has a paramount significance heading into the future which in turn hid all the flaws that were there. The ‘wrestling’ part of the show was provided by Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler while the rest of the show was forgettable. Amidst the darkness shined some brightest segments which will make up this week’s list of top Monday night Raw moments.
#5 Orton Rollins confrontation
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
After a solid match between Rollins and Jack Swagger who had an immense amount of chemistry, WWE put up an angle which gave the fans a peep into the future.
In the match between Orton and Ziggler, Rollins came out and intimidated the Viper to an extent to which Orton gave a fitting reply. He rooted Swagger into the mat with an RKO after Rollins secured his win and the confrontation which followed gives fans a lot to be happy about.
First of all, this means that the face turn of Orton is pretty much in the plans while Rollins being the catalyst ensures some high quality bouts between the two.
Both Orton and Rollins are known to be excellent in ring generals and it would be a treat to see two such men having a good old fight between the ropes.
#4 Damien Mizdow, ladies and gentleman
A majority of the WWE fans found the stunt double gimmick idea hard to digest but Sandow being the talent he is, embraced it to the heart and has reached new heights with the character.
He has outgrown the big shadow that was cast by Miz and at this moment, seeing Miz without Sandow is much like seeing a foreign film without subtitles.
This week Sandow gifted another win for Miz on Raw and it came against the United states champion, Sheamus. This puts Miz in place for a title shot but there also, the most significant factor would be the stunt double.
Sandow is the ideal example on how the wrestlers should find life in whatever gimmick they are given and he deserves a lot of credit for doing so.
#3 Orton and Ziggler getting a long match
One of the main reasons why the fans love Ziggler is because he comes out in the ring and gives it all out. Orton has a similar trait about him even though his style between the ropes is a bit toned down and his selling doesn’t reach Ziggler’s level.
However, the combination of these two wrestlers ensures a mouthwatering match at any day. The match that they had at Raw this week was no different and it was nothing short of pay-per-view quality.
The writers, out of character gave two good wrestlers enough time to slowly build a match and tell a story at the same time which was the best part.
With the chemistry that these two have, WWE should think about booking more bouts like what they gave at Raw.
#2 Rusev floored, again
WWE wisely or unwisely kept Big Show away from television for a week when his antics with the Russian Flag were getting some heat.
And in that week, Rusev shared the ring with Rock and got a big win over the Intercontinental champion. After all that, it was back to getting knocked out for Rusev this week as he got bullied by two big men.
There were nothing to be proud about the match between Rusev and Show but the post-match segment once again gave Show the upper hand. Rusev being bullied was somewhat funny to see as he himself is a big bully.
The fans are well aware that Rusev would win in the end no matter what and WWE should think about making it less obvious rather than building up the loser with a lot of momentum before the big drop.
#1 Guess who is going to face Rollins
The fans were star struck when they found out that they will be seeing a match between Dean Ambrose and John Cena on free television.
It was the right decision from WWE considering how much physical toll that Cena and Ambrose would’ve undergone if they were forced to wrestle two matches at Hell in a Cell while both being physically demanding due to the stipulations.
The main event of Raw didn’t live up to the expectations bar but the ending made it special.
Ambrose standing on the turnbuckle waving at Cena with one hand while the contract was safely in his other proved to be the highlight of the night as it was a priceless moment for everyone who has some friction against the Cenation leader.
