WWE fans are going through an exciting phase at the moment after the company announced the signing of Japanese superstar Kenta. The signing was made in the presence of Hulk Hogan which hinted the amount of importance that WWE give to the market in Japan. This is sure to keep the fans buzzing over the weekend, but once Monday arrives it will be back to business. While Kenta will be busy spending his time in NXT, the rest of the superstars in the roster will continue their buildup to Battleground. The match card for the pay-per-view seems set with the already announced matches and the only thing that WWE needs to give is a slight push to build up these storyline. So here is a look at the things that WWE might deliver at their flagship show on Monday Night.
#5 Exciting Divas Division
On top, there is Paige and AJ Lee, two talented divas that excel both between the ropes and on the microphone. They are fighting over the divas title with the heel turn of Paige all set to happen.
Next, there is the Funkadactyls, two friends who have turned against eachother due to personal interest and ego. Summer Rae and Layla on the other hand is fighting over Fandango while making a surprise union by dancing together.
Last by not the least, there is Nikki Bella who is getting squashed by Stephanie McMahon for having a sister. All these storylines have been somewhat interesting for the WWE Universe and the creative team spending time on the Divas is an encouraging site.
There are still some divas that don’t have a storyline backing in the roster and hopefully they will get involved in something while the above mentioned angles would be pushed forward.
#4 Icon finally showing up?
Just when the WWE universe was cooling down on the hopes of seeing Sting in the company, the icon himself has gave them a platform to buzz by sending out a cryptic tweet.
It teased a possible appearance of Sting in the near future which could also be this week’s Raw. There are a lot of possibilities in which WWE could use Sting at the moment but an in ring performance might not be one of them.
He could end up being the general manager of Raw or just be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sting being part of the WWE 2k15 is another possibility waiting to happen.
The fans however will still be pitting for that dream match against Undertaker which is a long shot considering how bad Taker was hurt during his WrestleMania match against Brock Lesnar.
#3 Superman meeting his kryptonite
Some time back, a match between Cesaro and Kofi Kingston would’ve been more than predictable. The Swiss Superman was getting the booking of his life after WrestleMania but has come to a standstill suffering two back to back losses to Kofi Kingston.
He will be involved in the Battle Royal for the Intercontinental title at Battleground but is heading into the match with minimal momentum. Big E also had some friction with Paul Heyman’s client making it worse for Cesaro.
With Brock Lesnar returning soon, Cesaro is sure to be overshadowed by the beast. His frustrated run due to suffering losses against an inferior opponent would not help Cesaro in such a situation.
What the fans want to know now is how the WWE will be booking him this week as it will hint on his long term future.
#2 The to and fro battle of betrayal
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are currently engaged in the most intriguing angle that WWE has to offer. Ignited by the betrayal of Rollins, the angle was push forward well by the WWE and they are yet to make a flaw in the same.
Rollins winning the Money in the bank contract added more depth to the whole thing as he had something to lose when Ambrose was eager to take everything away. It has all the potential to be summer’s biggest feud and this week will add another chapter.
Ambrose has been preventing Rollins from cashing in the contract and has vowed to do the same until he gets what he wants.
The two are sure to face off at Battleground and before that, if Rollins decides to get near Cena for cash in, this would ensure some great action for the WWE Universe.
#1 Rise of Reigns and return of Authority
The Authority was enjoying their time off last week which gave the fans some hard hitting in ring action rather than the narrative continuation that they usually get.
In addition to that, one of the biggest talking points of last week was the way in which Roman Reigns was booked. Reigns was given an ample amount of time on the microphone and looked stronger than all the other three wrestlers that will take part in the title match at Battleground.
This was in the absence of Hunter and Stephanie McMahon and when they return, it’s going to be a whole different story.
Kane and Randy Orton, who looked weak without the Authority’s backing would come back strong to teach Reigns a lesson while John Cena could also be dragged into the mix thanks to the WWE championship.
