New Underdog in townEvery Monday Night, WWE brings in their weekly flagship show in an effort to please their loyal fan base. This Monday, it would be this same old story. The only thing that separates a fresh episode of Monday Night Raw from its predecessors is the occasional brilliance in storytelling. While the frequency of this ‘occasional brilliance’ is on an all-time low, the fans are still hanging around just because we love the business. This Week, WWE will be looking to build up their next pay-per-view venture, TLC. Also, they need to sort out the booking decisions that they made at Survivor Series. It is going to be a huge task for them and we list down the possible segments of this week’s Raw.
#5 Lunatic and Real American
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The midcard Championships in the company were given some good direction last week. Jack Swagger engaged in a story driven feud with Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship when Dean Ambrose fought through a great triple threat match to earn his punch at Kevin Owens.
Now that the contenders are set, what WWE needs to do now is build these matches for TLC. Owens and Ambrose are expected to steal the show with their microphone work when Zeb Colter will be crucial for the Del Rio vs. Swagger feud. In short, it is exciting times ahead for the Midcard championships.
#4 Get the Tables
The feud between Wyatt Family and Brothers of Destruction was wrapped up at Survivor Series. Getting beaten up by Undertaker and Kane did hurt the Bearded guys a bit and they are now trying to get the momentum back with a feud against the Dudley Boyz. Bubba and D-von and experienced veterans who knows how to put over young talent.
They could help Wyatt Family, especially Brawn Strowman, throughout the storyline. WWE is yet to make this feud an official one and they could do it by adding a tables match between Wyatt Family and Dudley Boyz for TLC. It is a step down for Wyatts but it is the best option they have.
#3 Booking the next stage
Another feud that looks destined to reach TLC is the one between Paige and Charlotte. Their intense outing at Survivor Series was followed up with a great match on Raw. These two bouts have elevated the feud and the fans are eager to see a third match. WWE might give just that at TLC. Paige and Charlotte does have the fuel left in them to push forward but this doesn’t mean that WWE could sit back and enjoy.
They need to come up with fresh angles and segments to make the match feel big and if they doesn’t, this storyline is destined to cool down by the time it reaches the pay-per-view.
#2 New Challenge for New Day
The best thing in the WWE roster at the moment, New Day, is currently involved in a three-way battle for their WWE Tag Team Championships. The Usos and Lucha Dragons are in the running for the titles and we could expect a three way title match at TLC. These three teams had some solid segments over the past week and the only thing lacking, is some friction between Lucha Dragons and Usos.
They are playing the typical ‘babyface’ routine and respecting eachother. Instead, WWE should give more focus to the Tag Team titles. Usos and Lucha Dragons should be ready to fight against eachother so that they can get their hands on the prize.
#1 The Underdog storyline, rebooted
A year back, this time around, Daniel Bryan embarked on a mission to take down the machine. At WrestleMania 30, against all odds, he did just that and embraced the confetti that fell from the skies. Roman Reigns seems to be heading just in that direction. The difference here is that instead of Randy Orton, we have Sheamus as the antagonist.
The Celtic Warrior got his hands on the WWE championship for the fourth time in his career and looks all set to take it all the way to WrestleMania. WWE has booked a TLC match between these two at TLC, but it won’t be enough to make the fans drool. WWE needs more build up and Raw is the first step.
