Bridgestone Arena in Nashville is all set to play host for WWE’s next pay-per-view venture, Night of Champions on September 21. With just two weeks away from the show, the company has put together six matches for the card.Like SummerSlam, NOC will be headlined by John Cena and Brock Lesnar with the WWE Championship on the line. There will be battles for all the remaining midcard titles as well while Rusev and Mark Henry would be fighting it out in the name of patriotism.Considering how well the summer’s biggest party went, there is a lot of pressure on the company to pull off something similar if not better than SummerSlam. For that there is a need to make some additions to the current card and here is a look at those matches that the fans deserve to see at NOC.
#5 Randy Orton vs. Big Show
This might look like putting two superstars randomly for a match, but it isn’t. Big Show was having a good tag team run alongside Mark Henry but the World’s Strongest man was booked against Rusev at NOC leaving Show unattended.
Orton on the other hand shouldn’t be put into another match with Reigns as he has done everything he could in their match at SummerSlam.
There are rumors floating around suggesting that Show is the next opponent for Brock Lesnar’s championship which calls for a need of pushing Show to the limelight.
At this moment, there is no better superstar in the roster who can put over Show better than Orton. Some buildup in the coming two weeks would keep both former champions engaged for NOC rather than letting it pass by.
#4 Jack Swagger vs. Bo Dallas
WWE finally decided to give Bo Dallas some meaningful feud when they had him give classes to Jack Swagger. Swagger was fresh off from his angle with Rusev which gave the Real American a good platform for whatever he was to receive after that.
He had a lot of frustration to clear out for letting his nation down and Bo wasn’t helping the situation with his ‘inspirational’ speeches.
Unlike, most of the other midcard feuds that WWE has put together in recent times, this one are pretty much old school. This allows the fans to invest easily in the action between the ropes.
Driven purely by emotions, the match could also be WWE’s way of telling that Bo has a long way to go rather than being rooted to where he was when he came from NXT.
#3 Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho
Like it or not, but Jericho’s latest contract runs all the way till Night of Champions. And this means that the company would have to book him for the pay-per-view making this match some sort of necessity for everyone involved.
The writers have no time to build a new angle for the Human Highlight reel making Bray the primary candidate to face him.
Their last encounters didn’t turn out the way that the fans would have wanted to, but none can argue about the potential that both these superstars have as it was there to be seen in their match at NXT a few years back.
WWE could add some good stipulation to the match as well since having another regular match would make no sense after giving a steel cage match at Raw.
#2 Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella
There is still a possibility of WWE letting Brie Bella into the Divas Championship match but what’s best for business would be a rematch with the McMahon girl.
Last time these two stepped in between the ropes, both divas gave a crowd pleasing performance despite the limitations that they had. With the Network renewals on their mind, the company has been brewing up Night of Champions as a big pay-per-view and they wouldn’t want Stephanie to miss it.
Stephanie still has some more matches left under her belt including a dream one with AJ Lee but before that she has to be in the ring with someone who can remove her ring rust.
A lack of botched ending for the match would also be appreciated by the WWE Universe as last time; Nikki’s heel turn overshadowed the efforts that Brie and Stephanie pulled off.
#1 Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
One of the things that have been haunting Reigns’ rise to the top is his past. The members of the Shield were supposed to be brothers and yet when the trio broke up, Reigns didn’t pursue the one responsible.
Instead, he was in the title picture while the one who followed, Ambrose turned out to be a fan favorite. Reigns at a small level was projected a bit selfish for not being there for Ambrose at times when he needed.
A feud with Rollins could wash away all these stains in his current run. Reigns has to make a statement that he was not happy with what Rollins did and the two could work an excellent match.
Now that Lesnar is reining as the champion, the company could even let Reigns win the briefcase since it will make more sense.
