The story continues

The MVP of NXTThis was a show that started off with a roar but ended with a whimper. They put Bayley vs Charlotte in the beginning and then a terrific interview with Owens right after it. The night ended with the main event being The Gore facing off against Samoa Joe. In retrospect, if they had reversed the order of events on the show, it would have been great. But it was what it was. The biggest highlights if this week's show was Owens’ verbal jabs (as always) and Bayley’s journey to her match at Takeover. Here are the 5 points to note from this week

#1 The Biggest NXT main event

The story continues

So, Kevin Owens proposed a ladder match for the main event of the biggest NXT event ever. And people,Owens is glorious as a promo guy. He said he apologized to Regal after the punch he delivered his way the last time they were in the ring together yet things haven’t really settled between the two. Regal wished that Owens walks out a loser in Brooklyn. This led Owens to speculate a controversy, something on the lines of the Montreal Screwjob. Well, afterall, he’s a Montreal Guy.

Hence, was born the idea of a ladder match for the main event.

All hail, NXT’s creative team. A

#2 The Road to Brooklyn

Championship glory awaits

The episode began with the match between Charlotte and Bayley. This should have very well been the main event but, sigh.

Anyway, the story predominantly revolves around Bayley coming back from an injury and getting that crowning moment. She is one of the most over resident babyfaces in NXT and she’s basically getting her Sami Zayn’esque journey. The only thing left is that one Takeover match with The Boss Sasha Banks.

Bayley expectedly won against Charlotte and now she faces Becky Lynch next week on her road to a championship victory.

This is her journey of taking the reigns of the women’s division in NXT.

#3 Steal thy \'Thunder\'

‘Thunder’ in Brooklyn

Well, this week we got to know the next veteran to enter the realm of NXT. Jushin Thunder Liger will be facing Tyler Breeze at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. That led the Full Sail arena into a ‘HOLY$#!!’ chant.

Then they aired a video package of Liger from his work in Japan and WCW and of course, as is the case with all videos in the WWE, this one was amazing.

While Tyler Breeze is again in the same mode of being popular yet not getting that championship phase, this is a welcome fight.

#4 The Finn Balor Interview

To be the demon or not?

Classy- that’s the word to describe FinnBalor when he’s not being ‘The Demon’.

His interview with Byron Saxton was so calm, it would be unbelievable for a first time NXT viewer to know that he can transform himself into a demon. Balor is nowhere near the microphone what Owens is but Balor’s got his own USPs. He certainly has the looks that WWE wants to attract its audience. He looks and acts like a champion.

Balor is going to successfully defend his title, whether he bring the Demon to Brooklyn or not.

But given that the event is in Brooklyn, it would be great if the demon does show up.

#5 Pointless for a main event

The Main Event

Samoa Joe and Rhyno wrestled a good match but both of them, at this point, clearly don’t have a story. They are two veterans- well known before coming to NXT, that’s all.

These two were meant to face each other. The moment they were embroiled in a feud with Balor and Owens, it seemed there will come a time when these two faced each other. But there was no anticipation or excitement for this bout previously. It’s because they really don’t have a meaningful storyline.

Bayley and Charlotte could have easily been the main event.
