WWE Power Rankings: April 12, 2014

The conclusion of WrestleMania apparently paved way for a new era in WWE as this week saw the landscape change upside down.Everyone who saw WrestleMania thought that Undertakers two decade long streak coming to an end might be the big talking point throughout the week, but instead WWE decided to push aside their big names for a moment and gave the spotlight for the upcoming talent.Shield took over the main event scene after a minimal WrestleMania while Daniel Bryans yes movement began showing signs of losing its sound. Batista and Randy Orton formed a formidable team to look forward to and Bray Wyatt made it clear that he is going Extreme to get Cena.With so many developments, lets take a look at how all these affected the Power Rankings.

#25 Layla (Previous Rank- Nil)

After so many weeks of layoff, Layla finally made it back into the big scene as Fandango’s new fling. She looked graceful in her dancing moves and had some friction with Emma which could open up future possibilities.

#24 Dolph Ziggler (Previous Rank-16)

Many considered Ziggler to be the dark horse in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal but he took a big fall this week after a series of losses. From being in a hot run to being in the edge of the Power Rankings, Ziggler has a lot of ground to make up.

#23 Alexandre Rusev (Previous Rank-Nil)

The Bulgarian brute made his jump from NXT to the main roster in style with two wins through the week. Though it was just standard squash matches, it wasn’t a bad way to start off the career with WWE’s top dogs.

#22 Rhodes Brothers (Previous Rank- 19)

The Brother- Brother Feud that we wanted to see never took off at WrestleMania and the former tag team champions were only confined to a cheap show at the Battle Royal. Spinning out of relevance tosses them down the list.

#21 AJ Lee (Previous Rank- 18)

AJ Lee fended off 13 other divas on WrestleMania night to keep her title. but her joy only lasted one day as Paige cashed in the opportunity that she got and went home with the title. AJ will be determined to get the title back but the determination is not enough to keep her away from the drop.

#20 The New Age Outlaws (Previous Rank- 13)

The degenerates from the Attitude era made no impact whatsoever in WrestleMania and ended up as jobbers for Shield. after the loss, the Outlaws may be heading back into retirement and soon we could see them being knocked out of here as well.

#19 Bad New Barrett (Previous Rank- Nil)

Barrett was back doing what he does best: Wrestling. it’s surprising why WWE was keeping him in the shelf for so long and the fans were certainly feeding into him. Pair of wins gets Barrett back into the rankings and he seems to be on the way up.

#18 Jack Swagger (Previous Rank- 17)

Swagger didn’t have the best week this time around as he saw his tag team partner split with him. The match that culminated also ended up with Swagger’s loss but then again it’s a new beginning for Swagger.

#17 Alberto Del Rio (Previous Rank-14)

Like many other talented superstars in the roster, Del Rio was also restricted to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania. it didn’t do him any good either as he fell short and with rumors rounding about his departure, it’s certainly not a good time for Del Rio’s fans.

#16 Triple H (Previous Rank- Nil)

The Game gave one hell of a match against Daniel Bryan on WrestleMania and did whatever he could to make sure Bryan didn’t win. And since he decided to step into the ring on Raw, we might well be offered with some more matches from him in the near future itself.

#15 Undertaker (Previous Rank- 10)

WWE made the fans realize that after two decades of buildup all it needed was three seconds to end the streak. Taker’s status with the WWE still is up in the air and seeing him walk out at WrestleMania the fans clearly deserve to at least know what their hero will be doing next.

#14 Paige (Previous Rank-Nil)

The Divas division got a newly found life this week after Paige made a stunning debut by winning the Divas championship. She certainly raises the bar for everyone else in the roster and with AJ Lee, Paige could revamp the division which was being filled with reality stars rather than wrestlers.

#13 Big Show (Previous Rank- 12)

Show went into WrestleMania as the favorite to win the Battle Royal but fell short after a red hot Cesaro snatched the win. He also didn’t have much luck in SmackDown as well when he took a devastating neutralizer.

#12 Sheamus (Previous Rank- 11)

After a stale WrestleMania unfolded, Sheamus had a chance to get his momentum back on Raw teaming up with John Cena and Big E. But the Wyatts proved too much for the high power trio and eventually fell short much to the misery of the Celtic Warrior.

#11 Rob Van Dam (Previous Rank- Nil)

Mr. Monday Night made his return back to WWE with two wins over Damien Sandow. He also had a great interview with Rene Young but what the fans are looking forward to is where WWE deploys him after he settles down.

#10 Cesaro (Previous Rank- 18)

The King of Swing had arguably the week of his life after winning the Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal and becoming the new Paul Heyman. The latter is simply the most exciting of the two as we Cesaro is bound to greatness with Heyman.

#9 Big E (Previous Rank- 7)

Langston didn’t have a chance to defend his title at WrestleMania and then followed up with a losing effort on Raw. His previous momentum is nowhere to be seen and drops down two places as a result.

#8 Batista (Previous Rank- 4)

Batista didn’t live up to his promise and fell short in getting home with the title. He also submitted to the yes lock which made matters worse for the Animal. However, the teaming up with Randy Orton shows promise.

#7 Randy Orton (Previous Rank -3)

The Viper had a good show at WrestleMania but could not hold on to the title thanks to a determined Daniel Bryan. He made it clear that he wants the title back but now has bigger headaches to worry about in form of the Shield.

#6 The Usos (Previous Rank- 6)

The tag team champions successfully defended their title at WrestleMania but looked nothing more than jobbers on Raw. They picked up the speed in SmackDown with Daniel Bryan and manges to stay 6th in the rankings.

#5 Wyatt Family (Previous Rank-1)

After so much buildup going into the match at WrestleMania, the eater of the worlds failed to get the three count over John Cena. Wyatt Family got a win however on Raw and also made it clear that Cena is not safe at all after stealing the win.

#4 John Cena (Previous Rank-5)

The Cenation leader climbs one place in the rankings after getting a big win over Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania. Things are going to be interesting at Extreme rules when Bray will again try to get out the monster inside Cena.

#3 Shield (Previous Rank- 8)

A dominating win followed by some great show over the week catapults the hounds of Justice into the third spot. They have officially started the war against the Authority and Triple H will be having a tough time keeping these guys off his sleeve.

#2 Daniel Bryan (Previous Rank- 2)

Daniel Bryan and his Yes movement finally reached heaven at WrestleMania when Batista tapped out to the Yes lock. Bryan holding the title and closing WrestleMania was a dream moment and it only seems to be the start of a long reign.

#1 Brock Lesnar (Previous Rank-9)

Before WrestleMania no one would’ve even imagined that Brock Lesnar would be the one to break the streak. But WWE decided to make the fans realize that nothing is predictable when it comes to professional wrestling. After taking out Taker, Lesnar without any doubt is now at an unmatched position which needs to be utilized well by the WWE.
