WWE RAW 14th April 2014 - Five Promising Developments

RAW began with a heartwarming tribute to the Ultimate Warrior and kudos to the production team for yet again making a meaningful video package. It was an energetic night that will make Warrior proud.Though Aj Lee and Daniel Bryan were M.I.A, this RAW gave us plenty of things to talk about and remember. Here are the five promising developments from this week:

#1 The Era of Paige begins

I would go ahead and say that WWE in some way believes in Paige. Tonight she looked like the new kid in School and WWE did well to build her character into someone young who’s trying to figure out their way in this tough roster.

It’s a bit strange that AJ Lee was not on Raw to talk about the end of her historic reign and how she’ll get back at Paige for this. But the silver lining was that Paige showcased how different she is from the rest of the division. She looks different, she talks different and she even wrestles different. Her aggression was refreshing for a division that is heavily built only on glamour and yelps and useless grunts in the oast few years. And it was great to see Alicia Fox get some time on Raw. She did well and the match with the Divas Champion was one of the better matches on Raw.

#2 The quest for the IC title

In one of the better moves for the mid card title, WWE introduced the first round in a total of two to determine the number one contender for the IC Title. This does well to build towards a match for a title that once stood as a statement for any young superstar on the verge of a main event push. Though that aura seems to be not coming back any time soon, still this tournament was a better way to determine a no. 1 contender than any ineffective storylines that WWE has been trying in the past few years or so.

It saw some good matches and a few great spots especially from Cesaro to mark Henry, but at this point it’s not surprising coming from Cesaro. He’s set the bar quite high.

#3 Bad News is here to stay

For the second straight week, Barrett made a stomping statement. And Ziggler wasn’t too far behind. But Ziggler has been shamelessly used by WWE to get the good pops and to give another superstar some momentum. In a spectacular match, Barrett overcame Ziggler and it seems more bad news is on our way. And at this rate, I would say WWE, keep ‘em coming.

#4 Wyatts got the whole world in his hands

And Cena gives subtle hints of narcissism. Like when he said that “The last thing I need right now is another push. No one wants to see that.”. Firstly, many would think that that was a statement made to appease his detractors who gives him so much heat but in a way it was a statement that made it clear that Cena is above all that push business. He’s in a point in his career where his position is rock solid. He is the marquee guy. He isn’t pushed to be there now, he’s just there.

Wyatt on the other hand seems like one opponent who hasn’t been overshadowed by Cena’s lame jokes and marquee guy presence. Wyatt is standing in his place, stronger than anyone else and at this point he’s gaining followers fast. He’s telling Cena and the world that HE”S HERE!

#5 The Inevitable Evolution

The WWE storylines and superstars are sure evolving but nostalgia seems to be a part and parcel of WWE programming now. Evolution returned and Triple H in his own way told the young guys of the Shield that they might be the players of this generation but he’ll forever be THE game. They ended raw on a high and it seems Evolution versus the Shield is going to be set for Extreme Rules.

They ended the night with “Believe In Evolution” but this feud should only make us believe more in the Shield.
