Nikki Bella during a tag team match before she faces Charlotte at Hell in a Cell.Raw was all about the past and the present. Some would wonder about how the present crop of superstars compare to the superstars who came back for one night only, a mere 24 hours back. Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin, HBK and The Undertaker made appearances. So did Brock Lesnar. All of them were living examples of how much them just being there is important. Their presence created such a stir. WWE hasn’t built its present crop of stars to have that much of an aura. It needs to give all of them a chance. Here are the 3 things that did not work from this week’s edition of RAW -
#3 Charlotte vs Brie Bella
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Paige being a heel and Sasha Banks becoming ever so popular is better for the division than Charlotte facing Brie Bella. Bella is probably the least interesting performer in this ‘Divas Revolution’ phase of the Women's Division. And Charlotte, despite the great potential in her character, is still quite unconvincing and not so memorable as a champion. The division needs a stpryline to delve into.
The Champion needs to look like a big deal.
#2 Sheamus again
There are rumors strongly suggesting that Roman Reigns is set to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania and he’s expected to beat Rollins for that. That will be his payback for what Rollins did at WM 31.
Amidst all this, nobody seems to be bothered about Sheamus and his MITB briefcase. And why would they? Sheamus was a part of a tag match on Raw with next to no development or intrigue surrounding his character.
Creative constantly forgets to make Sheamus feel relevant. Let’s hope he cashes in on Roman Reigns after the Samoan wins the title.
#1 Diva Tag Team matches
Although the match between Team B.A.D and Team Bella was fine, there was nothing interesting about it. Tag matches every week seem like the new fad in the division. Well, it was a fad to have a few minutes or seconds of divas matches, and now it’s a fad to just have a tag match on every Raw or Smackdown.
Now that the Summer Rae- Rusev- Lana- Ziggler storyline is done, the ‘Divas revolution’ on the main roster has moved on to become the latest target of innumerable complaints.
