So there we have it. The last Raw of the year. Vince McMahon graced us with his presence in quite the disappointing opening segment of the night and got into jail and got out of it while giving us a splendid mugshot. Roman Reigns walked into New York with a mostly favorable reception. The women impressed again and the former US Champ was back. Cena's return definitely helped Raw a great deal this week and he was rightfully the main event. The League of Nations are still a thing and they are still not that compelling. Also Ambrose and The Usos are still a thing and that isn't that promising. Here are the 5 promising developments from this week-
#1 Cena is here
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Even if you are his detractor you were pretty pumped to see Cena back just to sing to the tune of his theme and tell him that he sucks. He’s such a great character and has just owned being the most polarized figure in WWE that there is none who can be better than him in that department.
He cut a promo calling out how poorly Del Rio has defended the US Title while obviously knowing that he was remarkable as a champion. He had the rapt attention of the audience and was enjoying every bit of it.
The face that runs the place is back and that is some major good news.
#2 The New Day Vigilante
New Day are one of the best parts of any show they make an appearance at. Their promos are must- see stuff. This time they targeted their words towards misbehaving children. They asked parents to call The New Day if they have a case of the misbehaving child. They are such heels to the casual fanbase of WWE that it was just perfect. This was really good work. It was hilarious and something entertaining in New York.
So, next time, people, The New Day will come to save the day and fight your kid!
#3 The Heel Is back
There was a time when Kevin Owens was the best booked superstar on the main roster. He was the NXT Champion and he beat John Cena clean in his first match. He got to own Cena in every possible segment while still remaining the MVP in NXT. But that soon got a bit lost after rumors of the higher ups being unhappy with his body build came and how making him win against Cena worked against Cena with his merchandise selling less than usual. But tonight, he got to completely desolate Neville and then Dean Ambrose. And then reveled amidst the carnage.
That was some solid work!
#4 Lynch Vs Banks
Sasha Banks got to be the heel in New York by simply hailing from Boston and getting a promo to send that idea across. This match between these two was one of the best matches to come out from Raw this year. It was in tandem with what WWE is doing building up the Womens Division with strong writing. These two got to ahve match which defined their character traits. Lynch is coming out looking as a really good babyface.and they’ve built her character well up to this point where the audience can feel empathetic towards her. She’s so charming with her puns and her loyalty towards Charlotte.
Banks on the other hand is slowly but steadily getting to be The Boss.
#5 Not a One Off appearance
Vince McMahon is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most relevant characters in the WWE. So, when he made an appearance two weeks back, it seemed like a one- off appearance. But he came back this week and hes going to be there next week as well as the special guest referee in the rematch between Sheamus vs Roman Reigns.
This week, though, he was arrested after Roman Reigns punched him. Even though all of this wasnt met with utter ecstacy by the fans in New York, it still led to McMahon being hilarious and manipulative. His mug shot may be one of the most memorable things to take out from this show. Also, he got out of jail as well to eventually arrive and announce his appearance next week.
