Roman Reigns started the show, Dean Ambrose started the other half of Raw and Seth Rollins ended Raw. The Shield is all over the place and they are likely to do so in the coming months. Each of them are getting the desired reactions. This edition of Raw had more feud development as battleground is just around the corner. Here are the five promising developments from this week.
#5 A new heel and a heel turn in waiting
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The beginning of the match triggered the sign to an eventual Paige heel turn while by the end it was the fight between Naomi and Cameron that came to the fore. Cameron seems like someone who’s much easier to hate.
The Funkadactyls have finally split, it seems. Layla, Summer Rae, AJ, Paige and now Naomi and Cameron- WWE is focusing more on having multiple divas storylines. That is at least “Good for Business.”
#4 Crazy is the new Cool
Dean Ambrose is showing no signs of calming down. If Roman Reigns gave a great start to Raw, Ambrose’s match started with ‘Let’s Go Ambrose’ chants. He also continued his tradition of getting one of the biggest reactions of the night.
He also had some surprises, intentionally and unintentionally- a figure four leg locks and a botch. The match was okay, but Dean Ambrose continues to shine.
#3 Rusev Crush!
Finally, it seems like Rusev is heading for something better, competitive and tough. He faced off against a former world champion called Rob. Van. Dam. And he won. That is seemingly a move to increase his credibility as a marquee guy or someone to look out for.
His journey seems to be much better than Brodus Clay, Tensai or Ryback. And also, the feud with Swagger was highlighted. This feud can really be the decisive force of Rusev’s career graph.
#2 The best match of the night
The Usos and the Wyatt Family have shwn time and again that they have some incredible in ring chemistry with each other and their latest non-title match just stamped that claim with authority.
Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and the Usos followed that the great start to Raw with a very impressive match which felt like we were watching a pay per view match. It was just that darn good.
#1 The Beginning of The Roman Empire?
“Unlike some people when I come down to this ring, I come with a point.” And that’s what Roman Reigns went on to do. His promo was to the point- nothing more or nothing less. WWE is letting him keep the Shield’s theme song and the entrance from the crowd, which works really well to accentuate his presence.
Even though his delivery wasn’t all that special, the “I don’t give a &*%$” expressions on his face worked well for him. The brawl was well constructed as well. It looks like his push will soon seem to be more and more legit.
