Is Dean Ambrose set to be your new WWE Champion after Roadblock?WWE has a network special coming up on Saturday, March 12th, but the build up to it hasn’t been as great as what they were able to achieve for Wrestlemania. Shane McMahon kicked off the show and had another confrontation with his father. The storyline is alive and kicking thanks to this very interaction. Now if only there was something meaningful coming from Undertaker’s character, then this storyline will be helped in thankful ways. The show did well for multiple characters – all of whom are instrumental in shaping the future of the company. Ambrose, Wyatt, Owens and a certain MVP from NXT made it all the more evident by the way they were portrayed and booked this week.So here are the 5 promising developments from Raw this week-
#5 Power struggle continues
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Another ugly confrontation ensued in the McMahon family over their ongoing power struggle. McMahon emphasized the fact that he’s disowned Shane McMahon as his son, removed him from his will and has also taken the opportunity to dismantle a photo frame of himself and Shane O’ Mac.
This further fueled Shane to win at Wrestlemania and take over Monday Night Raw. Even though security came down to the ring to escort him out of the arena, and were met with possibly the worst punches ever on this show, but it was all fun while it lasted.
It made one believe that Shane might actually have a chance given that he is – as Stephanie put it later on – fearless.
#4 Ole!
Sami Zayn made another appearance on the main roster but this time, it feels it’ll last a lot longer. Just last week, Owens was talking about how he hasn’t found a credible opponent for Mania. And just last week there were rumors that Zayn is booked for Mania but his role was not clear yet.
Well, now we have answers. Just when Owens wanted to decimate Neville after their match, Zayn returned to the main roster to make the save and continued their terrific storyline from NXT to Raw. Owens hated this return – every single, solitary bit of it.
This was an awesome moment.
#3 Fleeting moment?
Wyatt and Triple H had a brief yet significant moment and the crowd really welcomed it. Wyatt and his family laid waste to Ambrose’s spirit and HHH was over there trying to take advantage of this situation.
But before he could do that, Wyatt came over and left after stroking the WWE World Heavyweight Championship that Triple H so dearly and proudly holds. It was a moment that WWE may choose to emphasize upon later on or they just might not.
But this was in every way, a very significant moment and given the crowds reaction, should be delved upon further.
#2 Heel Turn
Y2J is a heel again folks and he pulled it off so well on this show. Y2AJ was meant to be doomed. Did you really buy into that name? Did you even want to buy that T-Shirt? Well, too bad since Jericho put all those plans to rest.
He gave AJ Styles three codebreakers in a place where Y2J made his spectacular debut years ago, a place which was constantly chanting for Styles and was crazy hot for him. This was one of the best heel turns that the WWE has pulled off in recent memory.
The crowd hated Jericho for whatever he did and it means we’re getting a singles match between the Phenomenal One and the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla at Wrestlemania.
#1 Anti-hero
This is how it should have always been – the best guy to represent the Authority versus the best guy to represent anti-authority. Triple H and Dean Ambrose are polar opposites and that’s why their in-ring chemistry works so well.
Ambrose is probably not going to win this Saturday but he’s not going down without a fight. Ambrose was on point throughout the show even though his promo led to his match with Bray Wyatt delivered in spades.
But the biggest point here is the immense potential that lied in this feud between Hunter and Ambrose. A future long-term feud will be great, and is something WWE could think of deploying.
