Picture perfectEngland has always been good to WWE and the company has mostly returned the favor by putting on a great show. This Raw was certainly one of the best of the year and it all comes down at the heels of an unfortunate injury to Seth Rollins, which changed most of the plans. We do not have a WWE World Heavyweight Champion and this week there was a tournament held to see who becomes the next champ.Exciting possibilities unravelled and they promised more such possibilities for the future. Raw began and ended on quite a high note and much of the credit goes to the crowd who was so participative. Here are the 5 promising developments from this week-
#1 Family Feud
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Raw ended on a terrific note and what better place to do that at, than England. Bray Wyatt was giving out a promo that was much welcomed by this crowd who were also singing in his honor.
But then, the inevitable happened and Kane and Undertaker resurrected themselves – showing up for a ‘Brothers of Destruction’ reunion. The Wyatt Family moves from a feud with two brothers in Ambrose and Reigns to the absolute epitome of brotherhood in the WWE in the ‘Brothers of Destruction’.
This is kayfabe gold.
The Wyatt Family outnumbered them, but the fictional possibities of this is galore. Also, finally Kane is interesting again.
#2 The stories kick in
The Divas Revolution is the most overused term in the main roster since ‘best for business’. But now that they’re focusing on singles competition, it seems much more compelling.
Paige returned home to England and lost to Becky Lynch. The main roster is doing something that NXT couldn’t properly do and that is to make Lynch look like a terrific babyface. Her charm has already made many a believer.
Nobody on the main roster is as better a babyface as her and this night she got the victory over Paige in a very good match.
On the other hand, Sasha Banks remains the most over person during matches where she isn’t even competing. Also, she attacked Natalya again. It’s exciting to wait for these two to have a match with a lot more time. That’s going to be spectacular to say the least.
#3 The Tournament
This is the most logical way to start a storyline.
The tournament to determine the contenders for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship began and it had Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose advancing coupled with Tyler Breeze making his Raw debut.
But what’s interesting is now that Rollins is out of the main event picture, WWE may look to invest in Ambrose and Reigns which makes the Shield members – clearly the most over superstars in the WWE right now.
So, this tournament may end up having Ambrose and Reigns fighting it out in the finals. There is this huge possibility and it looks like it’s time for these two brothers to leave their brotherhood behind and fight it out to be the best in the business right now.
#4 The heel
We all know that Triple H prefers storylines to take their time and that comes with segments taking their own time.
He likes storylines to have a slow build up. He kicked off Raw in front of a hot crowd and then had Reigns come out and presented him with an offer that was extremely hard to refuse. Hunter listed out all the possibilities Reigns can have by being with the Authority, he looked like a masterful orator, only for the time being Reigns wasn’t convinced.
“You don’t wanna die in a tombstone that says ‘Yeah but everybody liked me’. You want them to build a monument in your honor.”
Reigns was allowed only a few words, but they came off meaning a lot. Triple H went back to be nonchalant and left Reigns to claw his way back to earn a title shot.
#5 \"Do you want to be the man?\"
“Back when we made Seth Rollins the future of the WWE, we strongly considered you first”- Triple H to Roman Reigns.
Triple H came out to what seemed like a hugely positive reaction. There were many in the crowd who were actually following the words of his theme song by bowing down ‘to the king’.
The crowd even thanked Rollins and booed when it was announced by Triple H that he’s been stripped off the title after blowing out his knee at a live event in Dublin, Ireland. And then welcomed Reigns and asked him to join The Authority.
This is awesome for a few reasons. There is no doubt beyond doubt that Rollins is a tremendous wrestler. He is out for a few months and arguably he’ll return as a babyface. If that happens he will come face to face with Triple H and the feud can finally begin.
Also, if Rollins returns babyface and if Reigns and Ambrose do remain babyfaces, we can finally have a proper Shield reunion.
Other than that it also gives a possibility of a Roman Reigns heel turn. That or an Ambrose heel turn to establish Reigns as an out an out babyface. The betrayed brother team may work again this time.
