The last Raw of the year kicked off in style with the 5second posers. It was a much better Raw than last week’s show. It had some moments that one would remember for some time to come. That’s not to say that all these memorable moments were good. There were some disappointments as well. But all in all it made 2015 look like a much-awaited year and the Royal Rumble as a much awaited PPV. Here are the 5 promising developments from this week’s Show.
#1 The Renaissance of the Yes Movement
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
At this point, Daniel Bryan is no longer an underdog but a marquee guy in the WWE. He had a stellar beginning to 2014 only to be marred by injuries. He made his appearance on Raw to address the ‘crossroad’ in his career.
You could feel the speculation in the air. It was all around the arena and on social media. It seemed like he was going to hang his boots and announce his retirement. There was this little ray of hope that it was like Mark henry’s spectacular Swerve last year. And in the end it turned out to be the latter.
Daniel Bryan is going to be in the 2015 Royal Rumble. The Yes Movement is back on track. He never really lost the titles.
#2 The man named Luke Harper
Seeing Luke Harper, it’s anybody’s guess that he will never be the ‘face’ of the company. The ‘face of the company’ is just a phrase. But Luke Harper is slowly and steadily carving a niche for himself. It is great to book him in matches against other skilled wrestlers like Jack Swagger.
The look he gives is creepy and so are his promos. He’s got quite a presence in the ring as well. He looks menacing and it seems to get on his bad side is to invite loads of trouble. WWE’s got a great heel in him somewhere. And they should capitalize on that.
#3 Finally, some bad news
Bad news Barrett made his return to WWE television in over six months and competed against the talent that is Cesaro. Though, that match wasn’t near what both these men are capable of, it was a showcase for Barrett’s return and he got a tremendous ovation from the crowd when he won and the crowd was needless to say happy to have him back.
If only, his injuries are at bay, we’ll ironically enjoy all the bad news that he has in store for us.
#4 Ryback\'s promo
Now that’s how you make Ryback connect with the fans. Though, it’s not for taken that this kind of stuffis a one time promo. You can’t always be on such sentimental and emotional side of the audience. But Ryback gave a nutshell view of his career till now in the WWE and told the fans how much he love wrestling and to be here in the WWE.
And for once, the biggest takeaway is that he emphasized that this match against Rusev is not an American guy going against a Russian. It should’nt be taken in any patriotic context. But rather it’s a showcase of a big guy going against another big guy and bringing down the house.
#5 New Champs
In a short match, the Ascension made their long overdue debut against the former tag team champions- Miz and Mizdow. Yes, that latter thing happened. The Usos are the new champs.
Nobody may have seen this coming, but it did happen. And Miz might have set a record this year to lose his championships on raw and not on a Pay Per View. The match was a signature Uso match with a lot of action and energy. the Usos are into their second reign this year. A great way for them to kickstart the new year.
