Monday Night Raw started off by making one thing clear- It’s all about Summerslam. A year after Lesnar decimated Cena in the PPV’s main event, he faces The man whose streak he conquered. Undertaker and Lesnar are set to face each other in the main event of a PPV which is no longer 3 hours long. It’ll be an epic 4-hour odyssey. So many seeds have been planted. If Battleground was such a great PPV, imagine what they’re going to do with Summerslam following. The divas are doing great, Undertaker and Lesnar have done great, Cena, Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, Wyatt, Harper are set to be in action and rumors are swirling that Sting is right round the corner. Here are the 5 promising developments from Raw:
#1 The Statement
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Sasha Banks and Paige faced off in a singles match. You know how good something can be by just merely having a glimpse of it. When Paige and Banks stood in the ring, you knew it that this is going to be memorable. Paige is one of the most over divas in the division. Sasha Banks is a boss in the ring. These two collided in a pretty long match and Banks actually made Paigetap out.
That was a huge, bold statement for the NXT Women’s Champion. All of these singles and tag matches between the divas will later determine Nikki Bella’s next contender.
#2 Lynch\'s Moment
Becky Lynch got her first victory on Monday Night Raw. She may be as much in the spotlight as Charlotte or Sasha Banks, but she was in the same position in NXT and then we had that classic Takeover match that got her that huge break. It’s that match against Sasha Banks that has made the biggest statement for the divas in 2015. It outwrestled and outpowered everything before and after it.
Lynch performed some of her suplexes, ultimately gaining the second submission victory of the night by making Alicia Fox tap out. Lynch will make a strong case for herself in the main roster.
#3 Another good match
As this was the night of firsts, Kevin Owens faced Randy Orton for the first time ever and predictably, it was a rather good contest.Sheamus was on commentary and when one of these things happen where two people in a feud are around each other in that capacity, the one in the commentary booth surely attacks to cause a disqualification.
Sheamus followed formula and the match was over but the action was not. This led Cesaro to make the save for Orton only to later eat a Pop- Up Powerbomb from Kevin Owens.
Well, Summerslam looks set to have these two singles matches.
#4 A Star
The Neville vs Stardust program has been pleasantly surprising. And there are plenty of reasons for that. Mainly, Cody Rhodes as Stardust has never been so, so much better. He’s quite underutilized and he doesn’t usually get the hype that he deserves but his promo work this far into this feud has been terrific. It’s been something that is keeping this feud alive and kicking. Neville is a superhero and Stardust is a supervillain and this is WWE’s version of a comic book come to life.
Stardust is making leaps and bounds all on his own.
#5 A Gathering storm
The third Wyatt member is still a mystery. It may be The Big Show, given his match against Dean Ambrose. It may be Kane because, well, if Sting is to join Ambrose and Reigns he has to find a suitable rival and The Stinger doesn’t really think highly of Kane who is part of Triple H’s Authority.
Also, Kane is Undertaker’s baby brother, this may finally set up the dream feud down the line.
But on Raw, Bray Wyatt planted the seeds to a future match against Ambrose and Reigns and brought Luke Harper back to relevance.
