There was a time when most complaints ranged between giving the female performers of the company more screen time to making storylines surrounding the Intercontinental Championship and U.S.Championship more engaging. But on the road to Wrestlemania 31, WWE has achieved all of this. But despite all of this, there are still things that WWE needs to work upon. The episode of Raw which was aired a few hours ago, was one of the best of the year and the way they ended the night was pleasantly memorable. But there were some glaring disappointments too. The positives overpowered the negatives in this episode. Here are the five things WWE has to work on as they are closer than ever to Wrestlemania-
#5 The tag team scene
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The Usos are, arguably, the best team in the division right now. They have also held the tag team championship on various occasions. And they lost those titles to another team. But the way WWE has been building the team of Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, known as The Brass Ring Club, is nothing compared to what champions should ideally be built up as. There is no clear storyline and even if they perform really well in their matches and work well with their gimmicks, it still beckons attantion towards something glaringly missing. And that’s a storyline.
#4 What about Ryback?
What is up with Ryback? He doesn’t really have anything much going on storyline-wise. He had a promising feud with Rusev, which ended abruptly. In the midst of that feud, he got fired for being a part of Team Cena and standing up to The Authority. A few tag team matches later, Ryback has been lost in the shuffle. He was part of a very underwhelming match against The Miz. The major point of that match was the entertaining storyline between Miz and Mizdow.
Again, what is up with Ryback?
#3 And then there is Rowan
Rowan was another superstar who got fired, courtesy the storyline with The Authority. After that, it looked like he’ll have an average feud with Big Show. They had one decent match but it was all downhill from there. Erick Rowan has been the only member of the Wyatt Family to not enjoy much of a push. He was involved in a pointless match against the Big Show on Raw and at this point in Big Show’s career, there is nothing much entertaining left to expect. And add Rowan to the mix, for whom the WWE creative seems to have nothing, and that’s a good mix for an epic fail.
#2 Battle Royal
Surely, the participants for Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal won’t get the same treatment as the eponymous match from the Royal Rumble PPV. But it’ll do WWE much good to build some strong contenders. Mark Henry was redoubtable in the mock match on Raw. And he seems to be playing the part, what Big Show played last year at the inaugral Battle Royal.
It’ll be great to see some promising stars from NXT being added to the mix.
#1 Roman Reigns
Compared to the rant Paul heyman is used to repeating and the video package of Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns’ challenge seems quite meek. He did a good job on Monday but for him to come out of Wrestlemania looking like the one to beat the one in 21 and 1 is going to need some more work. Lesnar and Reigns will collide next week, it surely seems, but for the fans to go chanting ‘This Is Awesome’, WWe has to make Reigns look really good without making it seem a bit too much. The spear on Mark Henry was perfect. More of that please.
