WWE Royal Rumble: 5 Questions moving forward

Many expected this to happen, but alas, it didn;t

Will Roman Reigns get over this time around?I have to give WWE credit for giving fans a Royal Rumble event that was booked better than I thought out could be.While the outcome of the actual Rumble match was predictable and we all will get the Triple-Roman Reigns confrontation that was forthcoming, the story told by the creative team was worth the price of admission. That’s $9.99 taken right off my credit card. Now, with Fastlane the only obstacle in the way of WrestleMania 32, there is still plenty of questions to be answered. The fact Triple H walked out of Orlando with the McMahon Family and the WWE World Title in tow leads me to believe there is still some thought amongst company lines that Reigns is not yet the right person to hold the title for the length of time Vince McMahon once envisioned. It is also important that we not forget the fans who complained mightily about Reigns holding the title to begin with are the same fans who booed the heck out of Sunday night’s event as the COO of the company walked out essentially with his own championship. Now, we all take a deep breath and move on to Fastline. Here are a few questions that still have to be answered now that we have witnessed the Royal Rumble.

#1 Who Faces Undertaker?

Many expected this to happen, but alas, it didn;t

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The thought by many was The Dead Man would be one of the last contestants in The Rumble, but that never came to fruition.

As part of that scenario, the wrestler who eliminated ‘Taker would be his WrestleMania 32 opponent. Again, it never happened. My money is still on Kane coming out of the back and “shocking” everyone with a plea to write the final chapter of the famed story between these two.

If it isn’t Kane, Kevin Owens and a dark horse like Ryback could be on the memo sheet for the creative team.

#2 When will Daniel Bryan come back?

Future in limbo or something promising in the works?

I thought he would surprise us all and make his return to the ring in Orlando. Again, it did not happen.

There are conflicting reports on which doctors have cleared him to get back in the ring. But we do know WWE officials have not confirmed the medical staff employed by the company has cleared him to wrestle again.

When that happens, how he will be used in storylines will determine if McMahon and his cronies still have enough confidence in him to be the lead dog in the main event picture.

#3 What happens to AJ Styles?

A Phenomenal future lies ahead

He had a pretty good showing in his first WWE event, the Rumble. He lasted 28 minutes before he was eliminated. We all know from the reception he got, fans in Orlando loved seeing him in a WWE ring and voiced their displeasure when he was eliminated from the competition.

WWE has something special in Styles and would be foolish to let him walk over to Full Sail in Orlando and stay with NXT. The void left by injuries to Bryan, John Cena and Seth Rollins could be filled by Styles and his unique in-ring ability.

He must stay on the main event scene and I would love to see him in a program with Sami Zayn or Dolph Ziggler with Ziggler turning heel.

#4 Will Brock Lesnar-Bray Wyatt happen?

Will it be Bray or Braun against Lesnar?

It ought to happen now that it took the entire Wyatt Family to eliminate the Beast Incarnate.

If there was ever a stage to show fans how great Wyatt is, a series with Lesnar would be the ticket. Can you imagine the greatness and the promo work on display by both Wyatt and Paul Heyman? The possibilities are endless.

It also remains to be seen if Lesnar would actually face Wyatt, or would Braun Stroman be the hand-picked henchman to face Lesnar in a test of two of the biggest men in the company.

#5 How long does Triple H hold the belt?

A transitional champion

Definitely through Fastline, but it probably ends at WrestleMania 32. This is the match that needed to headline the biggest event of the WWE calendar.

For everyone who doubts Roman Reigns, they hate the idea of a 40-something part-owner holding the company title even more. One friend remarked after Sunday night that WWE was set back 15 years after the finish of the pay-per-view.

I tend to disagree and think if there is anyone in the company right now who can get Reigns over, it has to be Triple H. Beating the boss for the title has a Steve Austin-like feel to it and should be used to help Reigns finally stand on top of WWE’s mountain as the best the company has to offer.

Now, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar have been booked in a Triple Threat no.1 contenders match for Fastlane, that pretty much confirms Reigns facing the Game at the grandest stage of them all.
