The Hothead went berserkIt’s almost the end of the year and with dwindling ratings, uninteresting storylines and confused writing has been dominating the WWE main roster. TLC is one of those Pay Per Views which, on paper, always appears to be promising given the unpredictable nature of events that might unravel. You come into it, thinking about extremes. The build up to this PPV had been underwhelming, which is expected, given that for three consecutive weeks WWE produced some of the worst episodes of Raw.So, nobody will blame you for not eagerly awaiting this PPV to arrive. But most of all, this PPV was a pleasant surprise. Reigns, just by the way, looked really awesome in defeat because of what happened after his match. Here are the 5 points to note from TLC 2015 -
#1 Unleash the badassery
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Sure, Sheamus won. That was expected. But this isn’t about Sheamus. It’s all about Roman reigns. Reigns got beat. Rusev and Del Rio had a huge role to play in it.
But it’s not the match per se but what unravelled after the match that will be remembered by most. It was something that made a huge statement. And good for WWE that Reigns made it look so, so good.
He unleashed his rage on Sheamus, Rusev and Del Rio and then there was one.
And that was Triple H.
Triple H was demolished by Reigns. DEMOLISHED. Reigns was relentless in his attack and the crowd ate it all up.
It looks like Reigns Vs Triple H is finally on.
#2 The new champ
Dean Ambrose captured his second singles title in the WWE. That not only received one of the biggest pops of the night, Ambrose sold the victory as if the IC title meant a lot to him.
Let’s hope it isn’t as uneventful as his previous reign with the US Championship. Let’s hope that he finally does bring back some prestige to the title- something he had been talking about in detail, earlier this year towards the build up to WrestleMania 31.
Let’s hope that this feud between Owens and he, two of the best all-round performers in the WWE right now, gains some more heat. WWE has wasted away Ambrose’s time placing him as Reigns’ sidekick for far too long, ignoring the potential he has to create a great feud with Owens.
#3 #TheDirtiestPlayerInTheGame
Charlotte is turning into the second version of Flair. There are two ways of looking at it. One, Charlotte is actually showing some much-needed character development and she’s always been great as a heel.
Two, this is making Charlotte, a second version of her father. This has led many to believe that Charlotte has no aura of her own and instead WWE is making her always fall under the shadow of her legendary dad.
This led to a confusing match between Paige and Charlotte. Many have complained about this heel vs heel nature of the match. Does that make Paige the face now?
Or is it more of a statement that Charlotte bettered Paige at her own game- being the heel? She was done being nice to Paige and looking like the one that was hurt. She turned the tables and became the dirtiest player in the game.
#4 And still the champions
The show was kicked off by the most over tag team in the WWE jiving, dancing, twisting and clapping on their way to the ring when they stopped as their music stopped and then began a promo.
And FYI, Woods won’t waste a great hair day in, of all places, Boston. Way to get some cheap heat. They talked some trash about their opponents and then gave a hilarious version of their very own five second pose.
The match that followed was one heck of an opener- exhilarating on all levels. The usage of the ladders looked innovative and vicious. Woods leaving commentary for a little while to play the trombone, while his team dominated was perfect timing. Big E’s strength was put to good use and there was some expected high flying maneuvers.
This match was essential to set the mood of the PPV and the right team eventually won. New Day are way too good as performers in and outside the ring.
#5 The Pre- Show Match
Before the New Day kicked off Raw, there were two women who battled each other on the pre- show. There was no particular storyline to incline towards. Just that Banks was the heel and Lynch was the babyface.
The match was very well played out. They got this brief opportunity on the main roster to showcase some of the trailblazing work they’ve done on NXT and completely owned their moment.
While the match was hampered by a very poor sing along by Team B.A.D., their effort almost overcame it. Also, Banks was given quite a welcome by her hometown fans!
