Big update on Cena’s WrestleMania statusWWE’s booking takes a positive turn whenever they are nearing WrestleMania. There is desperation from the company to deliver on the road to the pay-per-view and this in turn gives us an exciting string of rumors on the internet. The week that went by had a few of them. WrestleMania, without much surprise, was the major talking point last week. The internet buzzed about John Cena’s status for WrestleMania along with the potential standout superstars of WrestleMania 32. The opponent of AJ Styles for WrestleMania was also in the rumor mill along with the reasons for Ryback’s newfound heel run. Here is a detailed look into those rumors and their potential impact on the WWE product.
#5 TNA up for sale
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
From the looks of it, TNA is up for sale and if the right offer comes around, the company will change hands. The financial situation of TNA is not at all in the right place and they are labeled as a sinking ship by most of the fans. Also, there have been problems regarding the paychecks of their superstars. There is apparently a huge delay in clearing these, which in turn has left the morale on the low side.
Despite the problems, TNA is looking aggressively to sign Ring of Honor superstars whose contracts have expired. It would be interesting to see whether Vince McMahon would come into play as he has a habit of acquiring bankrupt wrestling promotions.
#4 Heel run for Ryback
Ryback showcased his heel side recently and it is going to stay for the long run. Ryback, who sported a new look, came out showing his dark shades in an attempt to get over as a heel. The idea of WWE is to put Ryback up against a babyface Roman Reigns in the post-WrestleMania period.
Reigns is expected to be WWE’s top babyface through to WrestleMania 34 and Ryback would be one his opponents during the time. Considering the reaction that Ryback gets every time he steps into the ring as a heel character, the chances of this idea being successful are pretty low.
#3 WrestleMania plans for AJ Styles
AJ Styles is all set to make his WrestleMania debut this year. It’s probably a dream scenario for the Phenomenal One and he would want to share the limelight with a big name.
The current plan is to let AJ Styles face Chris Jericho at the pay-per-view in an attempt to capitalize on the heat that they have. Jericho and AJ will be fighting for the Tag Titles against New Day but instead of it being a tag team scenario, it could set up a stage for a heel turn from either Jericho or AJ.
Another AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho match would be more than welcome by the WWE fans and with a major stage like WrestleMania to showcase their skills, these two could steal the show.
#2 Andre the Giant match to focus on Wyatt Family
The Andre The Giant battle royal was introduced as a big deal at WrestleMania 30. The initial edition of the battle royal had the right amount of hype and when Cesaro came out winning the same, it’s credibility rose to the sky. The idea was to put over an upcoming talent and get him some momentum for the post-WrestleMania period.
This trend broke in the second edition as Big Show came out winning for no reason whatsoever. This year, WWE is planning to let the Andre the Giant Battle Royal be a stage for the Wyatt Family. The Wyatts, who currently do not have a clear path for WrestleMania, could feature as dominant stars or winners at the Battle Royal.
#1 John Cena to appear at WrestleMania 32
Rumors have been floating around about John Cena wrestling at WrestleMania 32 but it could be a long shot. However, there is something to cheer about for the Cenation as Cena is expected to appear in some capacity even if he is not cleared to wrestle. With the star power that Cena has, it would be a good move if WWE makes use of him in a non-wrestling segment.
With stars like Steve Austin, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Mick Foley slated to have potential non-wrestling segments, Cena would have no trouble fitting into the card. If indeed Cena is fit to wrestle, it would be even better for WWE.
