Every week, the wrestling world throws up a handful of rumors which has a big impact on the way the fans see the wrestling shows and the wrestlers involved in them. This week was no different as the Extreme Rules hangover was met with some interesting news on what and where certain superstars are heading under the creative push. There were also rumors about returns of wrestlers as usual while some potential spoilers were there about upcoming pay-per-views.With the fans eager to see how things will unfold in the latest edition of Raw, here is a look at the top five rumors of the week and how they could affect the superstars in the long run.
#5 Cesaro planned to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
A ridiculous yet might happen rumor that came this week was the possible match between Cesaro and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
The reason why this might happen is because the way in which WWE has been pushing the relation between Heyman and Cesaro. Despite being the advocate of Cesaro, Heyman is keen to talk about how his client broke the streak more than talking about Cesaro.
Rob Van Dam also warned Cesaro to stay away from Heyman making the clash between two Heyman guys a reality. But the problem with this is that it might be too soon.
The company still has no idea on how the fans will react if they shove Cesaro in as a lone babyface after a four month run with Heyman. At the same time, Lesnar is riding high on momentum after defeating the streak making it unlikely that he would be eager to put Cesaro over.
#4 Kane to take a break after Payback
The fans clearly bought into Kane’s resurrection as the Big Red Monster after a stale stint inside the suit. His fight against Daniel Bryan also suggested the same and he surprisingly put up one of his best matches in recent history against Bryan at Extreme Rules.
However, the monster run may not last from the looks of it as he is rumored to take a break after Payback. There were rumors of Kane taking a break from wrestling due to the busy schedule earlier itself but this one seems to be stronger.
Since WWE might be planning a buried alive match between Kane and Bryan at Payback, getting him out of Television for a few months would be good to sell the outcome. He is clearly going to lose the match against Bryan and Bryan will have a new opponent after this as well.
#3 Sheamus going to join Evolution
One of the rumors that made the most sense this week was the one telling about the potential addition of Sheamus into Evolution. The Celtic warrior is looking stale in his face character and a run with the pack might make things better.
Since Batista is going to be out of action for some time and the Shield- Evolution angle is so hot, a replacement will be well placed.
With Sheamus winning the United States title from Dean Ambrose as a direct effect of the stable feud, things certainly are more interesting.
WWE may have already taken strides to include Sheamus in the team, and this one might happen before we blink our eyes making sure that the battle will continue without Batista.
#2 Batista being screwed by Vince McMahon
Arguably the most controversial rumor that came out this week was the one involving Batista. it was reported that Vince McMahon broke his promises to Batista regarding his pay which was the motive behind his decision to leave early.
However, WWE wanted Batista to look bad in all this so they planted a story saying Batista didn’t want to put Daniel Bryan over and that’s the reason he is taking the way out.
Some of the reports around the Internet even compared the incident to the Ultimate Warrior thing that went down in the 90s and the Montreal Screwjob saying that it’s a classic move from Vince by breaking the promises he made.
One thing we know for clear now is that Batista will be going after the Payback pay-per-view but was planned to stay till late June if it wasn’t for McMahon.
#1 Kurt Angle might take a detour to GFW after undergoing surgery
When TNA sold the injury angle of Kurt Angle what many didn’t realize is that it was a legitimate injury which needed surgery. Angle apparently went under the knife for his ACL already and will be out for few months.
These few months will take him through to the end of his contract with TNA which threw up many questions on his next direction.
Since he is going to a bad physical phase, WWE is unlikely to offer him a regular wrestling role which he wants. This might force Angle to join up Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling once he recovers. If it goes through like this, it’s going to be a big disappointment for all the WWE fans who wanted Angle to have one last bow.
On the other hand, if GFW manages to pick up with Angle, then it will be a good news for the fans since WWE will have some kind of competition.
