With the Women's College World Series completed, the softball transfer portal is wide open. While the sport might not have quite the volume of traffic as basketball or football, plenty of diamond stars are looking to be on the move. Here's a primer on some of the top names who have already entered the transfer portal.
College Softball Transfer Portal Tracker 2024
NiJaree Canady, Stanford
Canady is arguably the top pitcher in softball, and certainly within the transfer portal. After two brilliant seasons at Stanford, she's on the move via the portal. Canady was 24-7 last year with a 0.73 ERA and 337 strikeouts in 230 2/3 innings pitched.
Canady is from Topeka, Kansas, and given the number of top programs in the area, it certainly wouldn't be surprising if Canady ended up close to home. Whatever team she picks will certainly be a contender for the College World Series, where Canady landed Stanford in each of the last two years.
Arianna Rodi, Charlotte
Rodi has been a standout first baseman in two seasons at Charlotte. In 2024, she ripped 22 homers while hitting .353. Rodi earned first-team All-American honors from Softball America. Rodi is from Rhode Island, so geography probably doesn't yield any good hints.
Abby Dayton, Utah
Dayton is a punch-hitting outfielder who led the Pac-12 in batting with a lofty .431 average. While Dayton isn't a power hitter, she is a top-of-the-lineup standout and a solid defensive centerfielder. Dayton is from California and might decide to stick a little closer to home with this transfer.
Kailey Wyckoff, Texas Tech
Wyckoff is a slugging catcher who had two excellent seasons at Texas Tech. Last year, Wyckoff hit .407 with seven homers. She was an All-Big 12 pick and could choose from a wealth of top local programs. After all, Texas and Oklahoma were the WCWS finalists a year ago.
Alana Johnson, Washington
The Huskies have taken a massive transfer portal hit in the offseason and Johnson might be the top player who's moving on. Johnson hit .336 with 13 homers with Washington. She is from Mississippi, which could play a part in her decision to transfer and find her potential next home.
Avery Hodge, Oklahoma
While some players are transferring in search of team success, others have experienced it and are still choosing to move on. That's true of Hodge, who hit .284 last year and was 4 for 12 in the College World Series with the Sooners. It's not hard to imagine Hodge seeking more regular playing time. The steady infielder from Texas could end up fairly close to home.
Cera Blanchard, Southeastern Louisiana
Blanchard was a JUCO product who had two great years at Southeastern Louisiana. She's a one-year transfer, but a potentially impactful pitcher. She was 19-3 with a 1.73 ERA in 2024. Blanchard held opposing hitters to a .193 batting average. She will be a tough one-year addition to a quality program.
