The 2022-2023 NBA season continues this weekend, with eight teams in action. Take a look at three strong team bets for tonight's action, featuring the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets.
Best NBA Team Bet #1: Los Angeles Lakers -2 (-110)
The Los Angeles Lakers are 6-11 for the season. While their defense has been pretty good, ranking 15th in opponents points per game and sixth in defensive rating, their offense has struggled, ranking 20th in points per game and 29th in offensive rating. The Lakers have, however, been playing much better basketball as of late, winning four of their past five games. Two of those wins have come against the 6-14 San Antonio Spurs, who they will face again Saturday night. The Spurs are one of the worst teams on both sides of the ball, ranking 24th in points per game and 28th in offensive rating. Defensively, they are ranked 30th in points per game and 29th in defensive rating. Furthermore, they have lost 12 of their past 13 games and most have not been close contests. Look for the Lakers to win this contest by at least three points.
Best NBA Team Bet #2: Phoenix Suns -6 (-110)
The 12-6 Phoenix Suns are in first place in the Western Conference, thanks to strong play on both sides of the ball. The Suns rank 11th in points per game, second in offensive rating, fifth in opponents points per game, and fourth in defensive rating. They are currently riding a three-game winning streak. The 12-9 Utah Jazz have begun to look like the team that they were expected to be after an incredible start. Although they remain tied for third place in the Western Conference, the Jazz have lost their past three games and six of their past eight games. While Utah's offense has been great, ranking third in points per game and sixth in offensive rating, their defense has struggled, ranking 23rd in opponents points per game and 24th in defensive rating. Look for the Suns to take advantage of a struggling Jazz defense and win this contest by at least seven points.
Best NBA Team Bet #3: Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets Over 231.5 Total Points
The 8-11 Oklahoma City Thunder and 4-14 Houston Rockets have been two of the NBA's worst defenses this year. The Thunder rank 29th in opponents points per game and 21st in defensive rating, while the Rockets rank 24th in opponents points per game and 28th in defensive rating. While Houston's offense has struggled, ranking just 22nd in points per game and 25th in offensive rating, Oklahoma City have been very productive offensively. The Thunder rank fifth in points per game and 15th in offensive rating. Look for the teams to struggle to stop each other, combining to score at least 232 points.
